To the great unwashed who actually think that Falcons and Commodore race at at Bathurst and that motoring journalists know what they are talking about, it can be enough to get a car on the 'shopping list'.
Research shows that most consumers when going to buy a car, look at a short list that they have determined from somewhere of only 3 vehicles. If your not on the list forget it. They aren't even going to your the showroom.
Toyota know this and have banged away at it for years Toyota, Oh what a feeling. Nothing specific just Toyota = Good.
Ford US has a quality level = to Toyota and a target to better them. Fords objective must be to get the Ford = Quality message across to the great unwashed. The FG is a magnificent car, that is not enough, FoMoCo must win the public consciousness with their new cars like they have with their old ones. Everybody loves old fords even GM fans.
Congrats to all involved. It must be hard to argue for the $$ in this environment.

Personally i think it will be 1 to 2 models after FG that will benefit in sales results from the quality of FG. Brand loyalty takes a long time to sway, "tribalism" takes a long time to infect....
