I think that would make him cake his trousers if it is indeed a fraud. I mean, I'm selling an old motorbike on ebay at the moment, and when the winning bid comes in, the money is mine, then it's up to the person to pick it up.
If they turned up and I didn't have it, it's fraud, and rather serious fraud, as I have entered a contract with them to take the money and give them the item for sale. Ebay is normally pretty strict on this sort of thing giving them a bad name.
