As for the syringe in the sidewall. Nothing surprises me. I find nails, tex screws and other stuff in sidewalls. It's generally in the rears. This is because the rear track is narrower than the front. So what happens is, the fronts pick it up and the rear comes along and wears it. So it's not a deliberate act of sabotage. In fact it's very common.

As for feeling round inside a tyre for the puncture. Stupid tyre fitter. Common sense tells you, sharp object = pain which can be done without. Commonsence practice is to use a torch and stick your head in there and look. If you can't see it that way, push on the tyre and then look again. Guaranteed to find it everytime.
It wasn't my comment about the tyre fitter.
The hole was up in the sidewall next to where the tread comes over the edge and on the front tyre so the rear wheel didn't apply in this case
The hole was tiny but the air and goo was coming out as fast as it was going in when the tyre was cracked at the workshop there was a cupfull of goo inside the tyre, the tyre guy had to wash it out with the hose-they say they have been getting heaps of tyres with this problem in the Homebush area
