Yep, the cars almost play as big a part of the novel as the characters do.
For anyone who has read one of the Dirk Pitt novels hands up who wouldn't give lefty for an old hanger like the one Dirk Pitt lives in, complete with all the vehicles he has in it (not just the cars, the lot...the Ford Trimotor plane, the classic railway carriage, the bathtub with the outboard motor...)...?
