Holden 99c per litre offer

Wonder what the Ford response will be, if any. Appears to be clever marketing based on the media coverage of high fuel prices.

HOLDEN plans to subsidise fuel prices – capped at 99 cents a litre – for its private customers for up to two years.

The company said today new Holden buyers before October 31 would have petrol or diesel prices capped at 99 cents a litre for 20,000 km or two years, whichever came first.

The company would pick up the bill between the cap price and the retail price over that period.

Holden's executive director of sales and marketing Alan Batey said the fuel price cap would ease the pain of petrol and diesel prices.

"We will provide this cap across all segments to ensure the benefits are as widely available as possible, given that fuel prices impact all drivers regardless of the size of their car,'' Mr Batey said.

New Holden customers will be given a Holden 99c fuel cap debit card to purchase fuel for up to 20,000 kilometres.
In most cases, within 48 hours of a fuel purchase the customer's nominated bank account will be debited to the value of 99c a litre purchased.

Just did a quick calc and over 20,000kms assuming petrol at about $1.60 per litre and a usage of 15L/100 you save a massive $1800, whoopy! They really do have a good marketing team over at Fishermans Bend.

But when you buy Barina you'd save ~$1000 and that's how much extra you're paying for the car.

I just wish FORD introduced Liquid LPG injected cars (with all the goods like DSC) and show it's cheaper to run than Polo Diesel

yes my 6.0 averages around 12.7 l/100 so with fuel in Brisbane around $1.35 that would be 1575 litres x 0.36 = $567 rebate.

The 15L/100 was based on high fuel consumption (mine lol) so was really an inflated figure. I'm sure most people get much better in their V6 Omegas.

I know its not for the Falcon but what about $2000 free fuel with all Territory purchases thats probably a better idea, this way its 2000 in your hand where as with the 99 cpl offer its only depending how much you will drive, what about if you dont drive that much? Savings wont stand out half as much

Holden Fuel Cap card will expire 24 months after date of issue and no refund or exchange will be available if the customer has not purchased all the litres available under this offer by such date.

Fuel card must not be used to purchase anything other than 91 RON petrol or diesel.

HOW IT WORKS

Customers will receive their fuel card via mail after delivery of the vehicle. Customers will then be able to use the card to purchase 91 RON petrol or diesel at any fuel merchant that accepts a Motorpass fuel card. Some fuel merchants may impose a charge for use of the fuel card which will be payable by the customer. (Retail Decisions Pty Ltd ABN 68 005 970 570 is the issuer of the fuel card.)


Purchases made in a 24 hour period are limited to $500..


In most cases, within 48hours of fuel purchase, the customer will be debited from their nominated bank account to the value of 99c per litre purchased. It is the sole responsibility of the customer to ensure there are sufficient clear funds available in the nominated bank account to allow a debit payment to be made in full (in accordance with the direct debit authority).


If there are insufficient clear funds in the nominated account for the full debit payment, the fuel card will be suspended and the customer will be advised by email that his/her fuel card has been suspended. To re-activate the card, the customer must arrange for the debit payment to be made by Bpay to the full amount due plus a standard default fee of $30. The customer may also be charged a fee and/or interest by his/her financial institution. If these amounts are not paid then the fuel card will be cancelled. No refund or exchange will be payable to the customer in the event of any such cancellation.


Customers will receive a monthly email statement outlining their month's fuel purchases as a reference so they can reconcile their nominated bank account. Customers will also be able to log in online to check their current fuel statement at any time; please note that it will take approximately 48 hours for purchases to be recorded on such online statements.

Customers may contact the Fuel Card customer service centre to request card balances, report lost or stolen cards, direct debit account queries including updating any new details as well as any other general enquiries on the fuel card offer.


If the card is stolen or lost, customers should notify the Customer Service centre directly. The customer will be liable for all purchases using the card up until the time the customer reports the card as stolen or lost.


Customers will need to be aware of the litres remaining on the card (via email statements, website or the Customer Service line) so that they can manage their last purchases without inconvenience. For the final transaction the card will accept the full amount at the point of purchase, the customer will then be debited 99c per litre for the remaining quota on the card and then debited the actual fuel price for the balance of the transaction.

to be thrown in I'm gunna throw it in(in most cases).
Yes I'll make it seem like a great deal that is hard for me to do.

a bargain. At the end of the day anything you are giving away is
already built into the price. It's that simple.
You get nothing for nothing in this world.

You are right but crunch the numbers and you could do a better deal without the fuel card, the $2000.00 offer from Ford on the T is better, just doesn't look as good.
Ford should do away with the free mags offer on the XR and the like and offer free fuel for 1 year, with the way Holden have it limited it would only be worth about $1600.00

I think I would prefer that to the 99c cap if I was taking any incentive as you would be required to keep recipts and claim it back sounds like alot of effort (something the marketing team are counting on no doubt)

Too bad if you buy a V8 powered Crappadore and you have to run it on crappy 91 octane, because they quote its 270 kw power rating on 98.

If usage worked out at 10 litres per 100 km which is about what the VE uses and with fuel at around $1.50 p/l its a saving of only $1000 over 20,000 k's. I would go for the deal of a BF MKII advertised today in the Herald Sun for just under $29,000 drive away (a saving of about $10,000) Not sure what model though as it was a glance. With holden its just a sales pitch but its sad that people will buy cause of it with no real saving.

people will be all over this for sure...just look at the que's outside the petrol stations offering 4c off a litre..i can't really see the point of lining up for 15mins to save maximum $5 but some people see the value in it, so guess a few will see it in this deal/offer.
Holden do have great marketing and i guess if your in the market for a new car and the fuel prices at the moment can be unknown, if holden pitch in a buck or two it looks the goods.
