After reading through some of the threads about Ford servicing new cars, I think I'd like to stick my old reliable mechanic. Ford has provided me with an extended 6 year warranty.
But the question I have. Am I required to get my car serviced with Ford ? If I go to my mechanic, will this void my warranty ? Your advice & input is appreciated here. |

I think with some of those extended warranties you have to get the car serviced by the dealership that actually sold the car, you cant even get it serviced at any other Ford Dealership let alone non-Ford service places.
Your's may be different though of course, time to check the small print perhaps? |

Ive never serviced my Utes at Ford. only warranty work that happened on RTv was within first 3,000kms. The AU needed a clutch at 45,000km and all serving was carried out by mechanic (Serviced every 10,000kms). Ford had no problem with it at all as the log book was stamped and all docos were in the service booklet.
of course, always check the fine print...something could catch you out

Yup, a standard factory warranty will be backed as long as the services are done by the book using the correct parts and fluids at the correct intervals.
Extended warranty is generally given if the negotiations include the car be serviced ONLY at the dealership you buy from. This is what happened when my sis got her new car. |
