Default VIC P Plate insurance company - mods

Hey Guys,

As you can probably tell I'm on P Plates in VIC and I'm wanting to know if anyone has or heard of someone getting there claim from insurance 'voided' due to modifications such as Cat back or CAI etc.

I know the insurance company will 'cover you' (take your money) But I want to know if they will actually pay up? I'm with AAMI, so yeah please let me know if anyones had any trouble or if they have gotten away with it etc.

Also not to concerned about the whole police factor mainly just insurance.

Thanks

Just get a K&N Panel Filter, a tune and some decent Fuel until you get off your P's keep it stock.

Probably the best advice, but possibly minus the tune....

I've had exhaust, extractors and everything. Just don't tell them about it.

Realistically the only time you NEED it on your insurance, is if someone steals it.

I cant see someone climbing under your car, unbolting your catback and floggin off with it. They won't care, Just don't tell them.

My old VS was lowered SSL fronts/SSSL rears, had 20s, extractors high flow cat with a straight through 2.5" exhaust (no mufflers/restrictors) and 5% window tint. I wrote the car off, and they still paid me out.

I had to take the rims off (personal choice) but other than that, i didn't care.

Realistically, its not worth being covered for an exhaust etc.
Exhaust - $200
Rims - $2000
CAI - $50.

That extra $2250 added to your premium means you'll pay an extra $700 a year for it. Why bother?

When I had my BA XR6 I was with Allianz. I had no modifications on my policy but my car had a catback exhaust with Quad exhaust tips out the back. They didn't say anything when I needed to make a claim but it will vary from company to company.

I've been insured with both, GIO and RACV and never had any problems.

I would like to reiterate what other posters have said. You can do the mods, just make sure nobody can see them (or hear them) and in the event of a theft if you have not listen your mods and got them covered you will be out of pocket.

I only have a relitively stock car and i can only afford 3rd party with NRMA because Compo for me is over $900 a year
