I'll be looking at changing my car over at the end of the year or early next year.
I simply love the G6ET but the new model doesn't do it for me. My shortlist is: 2014 F6 2013-ish GT-E FGX XR6T Budget will be low $50's. I'm leaning towards a 6 instead of an 8 because this is a daily driver sitting in lots of peak hour traffic. I do love the 6 cylinder turbo engine as it provides me with sensible driving when I need to (for work purposes) but can also have fun when I sink the boot down. Thoughts on the F6? Thoughts on the GT-E? I do like its executive image and style. |

F6, I was following one the other day and thought, "I could own that". Just looked so good surrounded by the boring rubbish most people drive and I like the turbo 6.

As a G6eT owner......moving to a GT-E certainly would seem appealing. AMAZING looking car for mine!
The sharper F6 would also tick a lot of boxes I reckon! |

I'm confused about why a XR6T is one of the options?
As far as I understand it the difference is a spoiler and a 'sporty' interior rather than 'luxury' interior? |

GTE all day every day.
It's an awesome car and has all the bits and pieces you desire. Electric seats 6/4 brembos etc 5.0 is no worse on fuel than a I6T both are OK and both will drink plenty when pushed hard. Plus a GT-E is a FPV GT in it's DNA. My 2c

I'm feeling F6 or GTE for sure.
I'm currently sitting on about 15.4 ltrs/100 in the G6ET with the traffic that I sit in. The Xr8 5.4 that I had was never under 20 ltrs/100 hence my reluctance of the V8. But I do know it is a 5.0 which is different. |

The 5.0 will be better than this so GT-E is my pick...

FG X XR6T is my personal preference. Low Kms you could pick one up below $40K. The shape is really cool and not many around. It's last of the great Ford sedans.
For day to day G6ET will be very nice and great value. There will be allot of change left from $50K. Last edited by Swordie; 28-02-2016 at 06:27 PM. |

F6E!! Best of every world.
Sleeper looks Unique All the kit, both performance and luxury The awesome Aussie I6T The only downside I see is the Fairmont Ghia seats. Not enough side bolstering for such a quick car

I am pretty happy with my GT-E after owning a couple of F6 previous to it.
If you are spending 50ish and like the turbo then perhaps the coming last model turbo Sprint thingo could be the go. Looks wise the GT-E is certainly the pick, but that last turbo car will be a great drive for sure. But personally, the GT-E still floats my boat most of the time, have grown pretty attached to it I guess.

Not the exact same cars, but for the comparison in dynamics, this may or may not help you:

I like driving the 6 turbo feels better balanced over the front.

His car felt flat but less repsonsive than my stock FGF6 set up. Now installed cut my PB by over 1.5secs albeit with green new semislicks. From memory the 5 is about 70kgs lighter. That's all up front. |

Considered it but I don't want to press an extra button to start the car after I've inserted and turned my key. At least it has better brakes in case you encounter a situationally-unaware jaywalker or someone who does not to give way. GT-E? I see if you want a GT-E you'd like a slightly nicer FPV GT on the inside and more understated on the outside. I'd only consider a V8 just for the loud exhaust and in my opinion a nice loud V8 would be a VFII SS or C63 AMG. My FGX XR6T's average fuel economy is 10.9 L/100km at an average speed of 48 km/h. Spending most of your time in peak hour traffic? I am going to suggest a Falcon on LPG or a cheap, small compact car here and run away as far as I can right now. But do read: Quote:
Especially this point for the XR6T -

Yep I will agree with that too, the weight of those big heads high and wide out in the engine bay certainly does affect the pointability of the car by far. Apparently the four-cylinder Falcon is better again, but yep the 6 turns better than the 8, no doubt about it.

There's nothing like owning a V8 (it can be sitting at idle doing 0 km/h and you'd still be cool). So by the process of elimination, the GTE. If it was me though, I'd try find a 2013-ish GTP. |

I own an F6 and absolutely love the whole concept! You could sware you're driving Grandads car to church But put your foot down and Hold that wheel tight! It just gives such an adrenaline rush! Now to own a F6E surely that would have to be the best of both worlds!

Having owned an F6 and currently an XR8, I'd probably opt for the GT-E. As enjoyable as the rush of power that comes on with the F6, the aural stimulation of the supercharged V8 is intoxicating. Have had a few people ask me at the next set of lights what the frig was under my bonnet, and I only just picked it up last week.
My F6 sat around the 12.5l/100kms. I can't imagine Brisbane traffic being worse than Sydney peak unless you don't ever get to stretch it's legs on the highway to balance it out. Ultimately, you can't go wrong with any of the three you've chosen. All cracker cars. |

Whats wrong with the new G6ET, I think it looks pretty damn fine.
Failing that a F6E just because you will be one of a few that will own one.
