Yep I got the motor in today with a huge thanks to Mick (Initial D) for coming out to give me and Ash (Kenaz) and hand, you were a huge help mate couldn't have got it in without ya. Also a a big thanks to dan (dansedgli) for lending me his engine crane, thanks mate.
So the day went fairly well got the old motor out ok, swapped the gearbox and clutch setup over, had some lunch and then got stuck into it again. The new motor was a bit stubborn but we got it in by about 2 pm. The engine mounts wern'rt playing ball, so more stuffing aroung to get them to line up ok. Started pluggin everything back in etc, then Mick had to leave and the CBF factor kicked in. I had broken a T piece which hooks into the gas converter when i was pulling the old motor apart, so i had bought a new one but didn't realis the hose was a different size for the one to the converter, so I dodgeyied it up a bit and decided to bypass the gas stuff all together. The car doesn't run on gas anymore anyways, but all the looms and computer and converter were in it. So after a fairbit of swearing and grazing knuckles we eventually had everything back in and were ready to turn the key. Turn it over to ign and everything lights up as it should, go to turn it over and NOTHING, brake fail light comes on and so does battery light. So i check over the plugs and the was one that wasn't plugged in, plug that in and try again with my EA as a jump vehicle. Now the starter sound like it's engaging but it's just not turning over the motor. :( Checked the coil and a few other things, found a plug at the front which is a blue injector style plug and i couln't find anywhere for it to go, also another rectangle plug next to the a/c condensor with no where to go either. i took some pictures, hopefully someone will be able to tell me where they go to. So i'm very sore and tired and the car isn't running yet, but i think we achived a lot today in a small amount of time. Here are some pics of the days events. Empty engine bay New (old) motor ready to go in new motor and everything installed back in the car. Now here's a picture of the blue injector style plug that has me stumped And the other plug Sorry about the long thread fellas, but if anyone has any ideas or can tell me where those plugs go, it would much appreciated. It's a bit depressing to put all that work in and not have the car fire up. I was lookin forward to going for a drive around the block with no bonnet and open extracters. :P : Thanks in advance, Damo |

Where abouts on the loom is the blue one coming from?
The other plug looks like the plug for the purge solenoid for the carbon canister. |

im not suprized it didnt kick over first time
wen we swaped jo's (JJM) donk over it didnt kick this is the debuging proses now man the blue pug is an option tin ante it?? jo's ebspac has it too shouldent stop the enging starting up if it ante pluged in saposed to b a temp gauge plug or somthing the other one i have no idea sorry man hope u get it sorted b 4 the cruize |

Hey Damo, that blue plug is connected to a temp sensor on the thermostat housing, but many cars dont use this so it is just tied up (i know cars with climate use it, dont know of any others?) . And the other plug is for the purge solenoid.

cheers guys. Yeah the blue plug is the same as the one for the coil, but obviously it isn't for the coil.
Where abouts is the purge solenoid ? |

That blue injector plug damo is for the Temp sensor on the thermostat housing. That white one i showed you.
The Red/yellow on is the purge control for the canister. *EDIT brent you beat me to it *

Ok so the car is clicking & priming the rail when you turn the key but the starter motor isnt turning..?
With the quality of that LPG wiring I saw today, im stunned it started originally! we will need to clean that up

Racecraft, i'm not too sure how long since it's been started, probably 3-4 months, Niko if you see this you could tell me. :P
Yeah mick that wiring is a big dodge, I might try and hook in that red wire that was originally tapped into the ISC and see what that does, it's just kinda floating around now. :. |

it did when the engine was out of the car Karl, so I don't see why it wouldn't now. I'll add that to my list of things to check in the morning.

theres also relays at the left hand side of the engine bay, i think its the one closest to the radiator bottle is for the starter, theres 4 relays there under a little black box/cover, pull it out and change it with the one with the horn (just make sure the horn works before so you know the relay does) and make sure you put it back in properly and dont bend the pins as i done this and i had to get an auto elec out to found why my car wasnt turning over.
Also check the on the starter there is a nut holding on both the positive wire and closer to the block there is should be another nut i think for earth or someИИИИИ. Hope this helps Ehab

it sat a few months, and also sat a while bfor i got it.
wen i got the car it started 1st go tho and no lifter noises or anything. atleast the motor is in, decent effort man.

I used to do the screwsriver between the starter +ve and the soleniod (not to be confused with the + to something earthed nearby followed by screwdriver vaporising and battery exploding trick).
If the engine spins its wiring problem, if not, its mechanical.

Yeah what he said, but pour about 4 litres of petrol over the starter motor to help the cylinder to ignite first!!

was it factory manual?
check the idle "switch" is still setup. run a wire to the starter with ignition on and just touch it to the battery, if it cranks then it could be that

My brake fail light was coming on when the starter wire was not connected properly.
First thing I would double check is that the starter solenoid is plugged in. (Under the manifold, red wire, single connector) The carbon canister purge solenoid is on the passenger side of the car, underneath(ish) the air box. It will have two fuel lines running to it. ECU might crack it if it's not plugged in. |

It's a factory manual. At the moment this is where it stands. The starter is spining the motor, it has fuel and spark.
I'm gunna go set it to TDC again and mess around with the dizzy. |

yeah, i'm sure it will turn out to be something simple i have missed. I'm just at a loss as to what it could be. Mick is hopefully coming around this afternoon to give me a hand and have a look, so hopefully we can get it to fire up.
