Default Help with Standard AU Radio Code

Have an issue with the standard AU1 Radio in my work ute.

To cut a long story,

1. Replaced battery
2. Thought I remembered the security code for the radio.
3. Thought I knew it 4 or 5 times.
4. Pucked it up 4 or 5 times.
5. Now the radio will not let me enter the code. Flashes "Err".
6. Disconnected battery for approx 1 minute.
7. Still will not let me enter the code.

Can someone please tell me how I can fix this. I am sick of hearing my own voice trying to sing!!!!!

Thanks heaps
Darren

go and find out the code first.. then leave the car accessory's on without starting it for about 15 minutes and it will let you reenter the code. The more you get it wrong the longer it waits till you can put it in again.. so make sure you have the right code

Write the code on the unit chassis in marker pen - no-one is going to nick one of those now.

I know this is an old thread, but ive just bought an AU3 with CD player and i was wondering where i can get the code?

Does the ford dealer have it? if so how do they go about sourcing it?
No log books, not even sure if its the original stereo head unit...

Find the code or serial number on your unit. Send an email to fadi. He's the absolute champ of such things. Tell him you're a forum member and he should supply the code pronto, pronto and for free.

All the best with it. Let us know how you go.

A short story.

One day my battery dies.

Replace dead battery with new one.

CODe

says the radio, ok wheres that owners manual that was in the glove box?

Lost
ok car due for service soon, Ill get them to sort it out.
Off for service, pick up car mech says that the stereo is not the original one and they dont have the tool to pull it out so I need to take to a dealer to pull it out to get serial number for code

I was too busy for a long time to get to the dealer so have put up with no tunes. This week I searched the net for an answer and came across this..

you need the tools or some stiff wire.do a search at the top of the AU home page and a dozen threads will open up with how to do it . Was it a Ford dealer you went to for service ?

ive tried all the methods listed on this website, and i have failed on two different AU's....... one a normal CD player, and the other my 6 stacker. The stacker i just ended up ripping out of the dash by hand, piece by piece

That's handy to know . I disconnected my battery the other day while putting in a DBS and dammit, I cant find where I wrote the code down.
I'll have a look there tomorrow.

If the radio is the original one for the car (and it usually is) the code for it is "connected" to the VIN number. Go to Ford, give them proof of ownership and sometimes $20 if they are a pain and they can give you the code for the radio by typing it in to their magic computer system.

ok cheers, I Emailed Fadi at 11:30 the other night and checked my email on the way to work, he had already replied. "ERR" was flashing and last night i left the ACC on for 30 minutes, but no "code" appeared on the stereo.

Then when i got to work it popped up. I entered the code and we have lift off. Then in the arvo when the sun got low i pulled down the visor and in tiny numbers in pen in the top corner of the visor was the code!

All is good.
Thanks for the help.

This should be present in every AU. No-one steals AU stereos, therefore the security code is simply a nuisance. Everyone, find your code and write it on the underside of your drivers sunvisor.

My old AUII single disc unit actually had the code on the sticker on the back of the unit ... and as far as I knew it hadn't been removed from the ute previously. If you have the removal tools, slide the unit out and check there first if you can.
