I don't know how this can be happening to me but.....I have been a staunch opponent of the AU Falcon since it was first released. But.....I'm looking for another play thing and.....
I can't take my eyes of AUs in the car yards at the moment. I find myself drawn to them all of a sudden....What is happening?!! Has anyone else caught this AU virus that I have seemed to contracted? PS I am deadly serious. What do people recommend? I lean towards the XRs. What inherent problems or successes did they have (S1, 2 and 3) Thanks in advance |

It's called seeing the light! No virus at all ;) Check out the AU Falcons page mate, plenty of awesome vehicles in there and plenty of AU knowledge.
My pick would be a series 2 or 3 XR8 or V8 Fairmont, or if you're really keen you'd be looking at a T series Good luck with it! |

Go anything s2 and above as I think s1 still has the ol' e series head problem of which you are no doubt familiar with.
I really don't what everyone's problems are with au's? |

I hear from a lot of people that the s2 and 3s were (in general) of better quality and had less probs than early BAs. Is that true?

Well, I've always thought that one day the AU will appeal to many who initially thought it was... ummm... whats the word for it? Mate, theres not many cars out there that look hotter than a lowered black Series 3 XR8!!! And of course as DoreSlamR mentioned, if you're serious the T-Series rocks. Good luck.

lets not let this turn into one of those them and us things...face it if it wasn't for the AU there would never have been a BA.
personally i'm a fan of both, so i'm not going to start bashing the BA, like mentioning it's fragile nature... We're all on the same side here. |

I'm not a big fan of the AU XR front ends, but I was once against AU's and now I love 'em.
No doubt you should be looking at an S2/3 |

au's are great cars for reliability as far as i've heard, i've driven a few and have been very close to buying one, but have gone either side, 2 EL's and 3 B series. My next run-about car would most likely be some form of AU. There's something about the headlights that makes you like em. Series 2 and 3 had better brakes and styling than the Series 1, as well as a few other adjustments. Good luck with the search.

Didnt like them, now own one, and so does my mum. Can not fault them, we are both over 200000, and all thats been done is a water pump and transmission rebuild on mums, and just services on mine, nothing bad at all yet. I have a Fairmont, she has a Forte, but if I were you, a series 2 or 3 Faimont V8 or a fairlane, or even a T-series.

All good cars the AU's but to look forward Hunt down a good XR8 S111 or T3 possibly the S111 persuit as well, any of these will only get harder find in good condition keeping the value for longer than most models and may even rise, The T is certain to start going north within the next 6 to 12 months with the XR3 not far behind it but not as steep.

Don't discount a S2/S3 XR6. The XR8 is nice, but, the XR6 has bulletproof reliabilty (as does the V8, i know) cheaper parts than the V8, a wealth of knowledge is available to make it boogie and it is cheaper to purchase than the XR8 to boot. OR, purchase a V8 Fairlane, drop the suspension, big chrome wheels, tint the windows and just cruise like the Big Pimp Daddy you will be.

Go for aseies 2 or 3 as the are much better sorted and quieter as they used a different firewall.
XR or fairmont/fairmont Ghia or even fairlane. And get the IRS double wishbone rear end. Its better that the J blade in the BA. And they are great buying.
