Default Spotted - Camaro leaving HEC

Well, I work in Port Melbourne, and I drive past HEC (Holden Engine Company) every day. I see Pontiac G8's at least 3 times a week, and all manner of assorted things. I've even see a Daewoo badged Statesman.

Anyway, they're all a bit naff, but yesterday arvo I spotted a Camaro, taped and masked up, being towed out of the HEC gates. Couldnt have been anything but a Camaro, was very distinctive. I wonder if the rumours of a Chevy return to Aus might be a little more accurate than first thought?

What would Holden be doing with a Charger? Or any Dodge/Chrysler product for that matter.

100% sure, I used to work for Chrysler, we won't be getting the Charger. Not yet anyway.

DC is in big trouble at the moment, a lot of their plans are on hold.

GM doesn't own Chrysler or Dodge. Charger is powered by a 6.1 Hemi, not an LSX. Charger Vs. Camaro is like Falcon Vs. Commodore. They'll be direct competitors.

But they are completely different engines altogether. The Chrysler is a Hemi for a start.

Yep 300C is 5.7 but the SRT8 uses the 6.1.

Mustangs were badged 5.0, does that mean its the Holden 308 aka 5.0??

Hmmm, Holden powered Mustang.

Theres no big coincidence at all. Its just a number that measures displacement, any company could make one the same displacement, with wider or narrower V, longer stroke with shorter bore, or vice versa.

Unfortunately if we do see the Camaro (which we will) it will most likely be badged as a Monaro.

Holden is doing the development for the chassis of the US Camaro. There is a video on Youtube about the Camaro prototype and the PR executive of Chevrolet states they are getting help from "our aussie friends down under".

Please tell me that was sarcasm.

I can't tell you how many times you were wrong in that sentence if you were serious.

As for Camaro - Bring it on. Ford failed to bring us Mustang, Chrysler won't give us the Challenger, but Holden might allow us to own a Camaro. Probably going to be better than a Mustang, that's for sure.

What would be more confusing to the average joe would be the Ford Rangers 4 Litre and the Ford Falcon 4 litre.......surely the same company would have the same motors in all their cars.................... :

Chances are it would have been.

GMH are well advanced in the Camaro program, although, as said previously, I’m not sure what they will call it here.

So the Camaro would have looked similar to the one in the Transformers movie yeah ?
