So it is a new car that you need to wait for?

If that is the case, it is a pretty poor performance on the part of the seller.

Have you paid anything as yet for the paint protection? Have you paid a deposit for the car?

Read the fine print on any paperwork you have been given. The fact that the paint protection is not on the original sales contract may be in your favour??

Curious to hear what others say, there are a handful of members here who work in dealerships.

If you called them within 24 hours of signing the contract, you are perfectly within your rights to change your mind.

In saying this I would assume that most dealers would let you drop it anyway.

you have a seven day "cooling" off clause, If they refuse to refund the paint protection tell them to jam it.

yes made a deposit. abt 4000 bucks!!!
so cant get out of buying the car - which i dont want to do anyway. just dont want this paint stuff...which is costing $3000. i havent paid for it yet. deposit was just for the car.

yes called within 24 hrs. coz they were stuffing me arnd...sent a fax/email in writing as well saying i am cancelling it.

the invoice is just a 1 page thing....which is not part of the car contract and also this invoice thing has no terms and conditions. so they shud cancel it.

HOLY SMOKES (insert fould swear words here) THREE GRAND ?? for paint protection ? Damn, you can do it once every couple of months yourself for about 30bucks a year.

Cancel cancel. CTRL ALT DEL the buggers.

they wanted me to get paint protection for my new bf and I said no because they wanted $1600. Three weeks later I got a letter in the post because they were willing to offer me a 300 discount if I chose to get the paint protection.....

The new ford white paint is cr4p. I'm just getting mine resprayed in a year from a mate who is a panel beater. For now I look after it as best I can.

Good luck

There is in queensland, I think they are trying to bluff you. Dont get caught in the trap of wanting your new car so badly that you end up paying for the protection. 3k what are they protecting the paint with gold????

Once they give you the all clear for dropping the paint protection, ask them if they'll throw in a new Ford keyboard as a sweetener. Yours seems to be broken.

I bet she was good looking and spun a good yarn, these secondry sales is like going through a staged exit with an upsell at every corner.

The old bad luck is probably a line used for suckers that believe it, and would guess regardless a cooling of period applies.

even without that if your soft expect to pay, simple story to the sales people i dont want it i wont pay for it so dont waste your time.

The laws differ from state to state in regards to cooling off period. In WA I believe there is no cooling off period.

You got it..
Should only pay a few hundred tops.

This is the biggest plug of all car sales (tint - paint protection etc etc)
When we bought the wifes car, they plugged us so hard, we said no to all.

It is the biggest scam to push extra dollars, because you squeeze the reps out of money, they push you to by offering in a forceful way to get these overpriced items back their profit they lost in the deal.
