I would have thought being a car from Dealer code 3999, they would have installed a "hydratrack" diff in the car, not an lsd diff. Maybe that dealer better re read the official launch kit for the EL GT!!! :

3999 Is Ford Australia Special Vehicle Operations, there where a total of 12 ELGT's that went through SVO, pretty sure they are all P cars, P01 to P12.

can someone confirm if that price is reasonable? i thought 35-40k for an EL GT was about the benchmark.

I thought 3999 was the dealer code for head office? ELGT4me, I think the "LSD" is what is in the carsales system, hydratrak is a form of LSD after all. I think it's a lot of money for an EL GT when it isn't that low-mileage and as they say has some "road rash". Of course if you don't ask, you don't get!

My friend , if you were to try to buy parts for your lsd diffed EL GT you may get a rude shock, the principal of operation is similar, however the "hydratrack" is a totally different unit. The Bowdens are no idiots, perhaps they should proof read their ads for their cars before commanding top dollar. Anyone care to buy a 2v GT HO : as raced by ALLAN Brock? :

Well can you explain to me why this car is worth $30,000 more than one with 40,000kms less on it?

Mate, I cannot explain their pricing, my car was the last EL GT sold in Australia, it has less than 30k on the odometer. Does that make it more collectable? Like I said, if you are commanding top dollar, at least get the facts about the car right. I trust you will buy the last EL GT ever sold in Australia, complete with trophy's for $87k's!!! (No, I did not think so either!!!) I have never met the Bowdens personally, but they would not sell any cars at a loss, as Barnum said "there is one born every minute" Hopefully, through the forum, you have learned something!!! Greg.

My ute has a hydratrak diff, I know what they are. I was saying the specs listed in Carsales (or box to tick) won't differentiate between a hydratrak & normal lsd, so I doubt it is a case of roofreading. I have seen heaps of ads for less-common where the system does not have the right info so the seller has chosen the closest option and explained what the car really is in the comments/description.

Fair call my friend, but the Bowdens are noted for being pedantic in discovering every detail possible, & verifying previous owners /maintainers of their impressive car collection. What price they sell the car for is their business, however in my opinion (pedantic or not?) to command top dollar for the car, I would ensure the add for the car , was as accurate as possible. Believe me, if the Bowdens wanted the add changed they could afford it.

Collectable cars are worth whatever someone is prepared to pay. If the above mentioned EL GT is wanted enought by someone to pay the price then it will sell, if not then it won't.

Collecting is personal, you collect things you like and often price is irrelevant. I payed $10,000 for my H&K MP5A3 submachinegun, 1 of only 3 legal ones in Australia but I wanted it. Not many people would buy one at all let alone pay that when a brand new one was $1200.
I have a friend who collects old military radios, he has paid what I think is ridiculous amounts for things I would expect to see at a dump.

The Bowdens have been collecting for many years and have a bit of an idea of what is or isn't value so lets just see what happens.......
