dash cluster symbol s1

g'day, can someone tell me what the symbol to the left of the odometer in a low s1 is, its a ! With a circle around it and in brackets. Cheers.

Thats what i thought, i can't check my book i'm at work. I topped up my brake fluid it was low but the light hasn't gone out thats why i thought it was something else. Gees i can't wait to do my suspension and upgrade to au 2 brakes.

Nope you were right the first time thats the first thing i tried it had a different symbol as i recall. But will check when i leave work in case i'm wrong. Cheers guys

sounds like handbrake Switch playing up try and unplug it pull the hand brake boot off and unplug the conecter down there and see if it gose out if so then u need to reco the switch like i did or replace it

it certainly is mate, as jc has said its the brake fail symbol but it has not gone off since topping up brake fluid but is still braking the same may have air pocket around sensor. i will bleed the entire system and change fluid type when i upgrade. thanks everyone for your help. cheers preston.

The ! in a circle is the brake symbol.

The park brake indicator light is a circle with the letter "P" around it in brackets. This is also a Brake system malfunction warning light....HOWEVER
this year I had major brake booster problems and rear heating of fluid and the only light that appeared to come on and that warned me was the one your talking about....It was the same the "P" one but with a "!" in the circle...I could only assume it too is a brake system problem. The light has never come on again since I had the job repaired....Hope this helps as I cant find anywhere in the car book that same symbol.

I had that (!) light light up on my dash last week. Went to stop at some traffic lights and the pedal went to the floor. Pumped it up and it stopped ok. Kept coming on and off. Checked the fluid and it was ok, turned out to be a slightly sticking rleft rear calliper causing tremendous heat and boiling the brake fluid, hence no stop.

So yeah, definately the brake system malfunction light. Get it checked ASAP. If its still stopping ok, it may just be a dodgy connection somewhere or as said an airbubble in the system or brake booster on its way out, who knows. But get it checked out, No brakes is not fun let me tell you. Lucky when mine decided not to work i was only crawling along and was at the front of the que at the lights.
