Hey people. I'm looking to get a muscle car, I don't mind if I'll have to do a little restoration work to get it back into shape, but my limit is about $12,000. My knowledge of cars is not that great so I'm here to ask you guys to recommend a couple of cars for me which look like the Ford XA Coupe. I say specifically the coupe because the back looks incredible like that.
So in short does anyone know a car which looks like the Ford XA Coupe for about $12,000? And I don't really mind what manufacturer the car is made by. |

If it was a V8 then maybe I could understand the price but for a 6 in that condition i'm staggered. |

Unless you can do alot of the restoration work yourself 12k wont get you very far.
If i had $12k for a restoration project i would try and get a car that needs as little restoration as possible. Try and find something thats near mint but not for a ridiculous price. You could get lucky and get a classic thats been looked after in good condition.

A TA or RA Celica would make a sweet little project. Japanese muscle cars are the best! |

I built a TA22 celica a million years ago, with a 4ltr 1UZFE V8 in it. Tuff as guts, but couldnt ever get traction

You will probably find a Valiant Charger for that money- thats as close to a Ford coupe as you'll get for $12k. Still a hot looking car, easy to restore and still quite a few around but you'll need to spend more on it.
Regardless of whether its a muscle car or something pretty ordinary- a 40 year old car will swallow $12k pretty quickly!

try a Chevy Nova, good ones hover around 20k so an average one needing a bit of work shouldnt be far off it

Lot of good ideas here .. Mustang is a good substitute .. And Valiant Charger is a good alternative. If you can find one .. AMC Javelin might be another option .. The second generation "humpsters" have the aggressive pumped out guards of the Falcon coupe. |

You know, I'd love the idea of driving around in a mint XC Coupe with all the running gear, including the IRS, and the creature comforts from a BA XR8.
I saw that recent thread where someone had done the same thing with a 60's Mustang using AU XR8 running gear and nearly creamed myself. That was about 19k though if I recall. Ahh, to dream.... Lukeyson

Can't believe only one person has mentioned the 4 door XA-C...
I mean, this one was free, but you could get one like this for under 12k with change for some awesome wheels too. The girl is a much more expensive optional extra so i suggest just sticking to the car.
