Default Annoying brake light glitch

Well..
As the title suggests I've got a "glitch" with my brake lights.
Whenever you apply the brakes fast then the brake lights won't appear, or may flash for a second.
If you apply the brake lights a bit more gentle then the brake light will appear but once you apply the brake light a bit more then the brake light disappears.

I've already had replaced the "Stop Lamp Switch" but still the same issue.

Please help!

Thanks

Could just be a general wiring issue

Hi. Did you put a new switch on or a pre loved replacement? These switches are common for failing and other than the wires going to the switch breaking away from the terminals there dont tend to be any other problems. Cheers MD

Well I got it replaced at a local auto electrician. Apparently it's brand new Ford part (Ford dealer is next door kinda)
I'll go have a look myself actually. Seems pretty straight forward.

Thanks

Hey mate those switches when fitted over the shaft often have play and movement as u apply the brake the switch will kick at a angle preventing the correct contact to the switch button. My bet your old switch is fine so is this one check and ensure the switch is sitting square put ur head under dash and engage the brake pedal by hand you will see if that is the problem. If the movement is excessive remove the R clip & put a thin washer between R clip and the switch. Hope this info helps mate

That's rather interesting.
I'll have a look in the morning and if I've got no idea what I'm doing or no luck then I'll take it back.

Thank you

To be honest not a whole lot.
It just appeared to be a wiring issue of some sort.
I didn't wanna ask to many questions on the day.
Just as long as it's all sorted I guess!

I had a similar issue. The wiring to the plug that connects to the brake light switch had broken just above the crimp connector. I managed to solder it back together and taped it up to prevent flexing at the solder joint. Was a pain to fix though.
