Joshua Dowling recommends (shock!!!) FORDS!
Cars Guide Focus, Fiesta, Mondeo, Ranger rated above comparable Holden models. Falcon and Territory ranked even down purely on a cost factor... Fiesta cops some flack for being source from Thailand, however, the Focus is praised... Some good stuff for a change, especially with the number of people willing to stick the boot into ford about their product.

Well, tradition would suggest that anything recommended by Joshua dowling is actually a steaming pile of poo.. Or is that just when he says something we don't like?

No real surprises, other than Dowling giving a fair and balanced opinion. These are results people in the know have known for years. Only real surprise was how they rated the FG the equal of the golden child VF. Good to see a journo refer to the Falcons price in the real world, as opposed to the 41 thou rrp they always refer to that no one has ever paid. Territory is so much better than Craptiva it's not funny, but again price was a heavy consideration

No surprise there. Focus, Fiesta, Mondeo and Ranger are world class products. Those who've sworn off buying Fords are missing out.

Its hardly surprising, considering most of the “Holdens” are actually Daewoos.
but he ranks the Territory equal with the Craptiva? Presumably he has never driven either. |

I haven't driven the VF or new Barina, but I have driven the former models as well as every other vehicle they compared there - you would honestly have to have rocks in your head to chose Holden's product over Ford.
The most humerous example is the Ranger scoring half a star above the new Colorado - go drive both and see what you think, it's chalk and cheese. |

Absolute rubbish this review is.
The fiesta is that far a better proposition than the Barina. Focus the same over the Cruze. Territory the same over Captiva. Ranger best in class New Commodore sad to say it but shouldnt be on par with a Falcon, it is better! The Ford Range as a whole except for Falcon is streets ahead. |

A lot of the star ratings in those review were in relation to "value for money". Because the Captiva starts at $29,990 drive away for a seven seater instead of $39,990 for a 5 seater Tezza, the Captiva is considered by him to be better value for family buyers. Same sort of thing for the Colorado/Ranger outcome. The thing with Carsguide, its not publication for car guys/girls. Its consumer advice for the non-car people, hence heavy preference for price/value over performance and handling

Perhaps he realises that his bias was foolish.

I'd love to know why all off a sudden this ****** ranks the FG close to the commie. He's been hangin poo on it since it came out. What a turncoat. Obviously never used any facts previously to rank them.....just his bias.

I finally dragged myself to read his dribble. Its funny how hes all of a sudden talking about the holdens like hes always talked about fords. Sly remarks and underlying agendas just steam out of his mouth. Hes preaching to the choir. Weve known that all those fords are better then the opposition for many years. Hsv is the only place it gets respectable/close/better or whatever you like. |

I thought the Kuga would be the direct competition to the Captiva being they are a similar size SUV where the Territory is a bit bigger again.
