Teen burnt after wheels melt in police chase
Date November 5, 2013 - 10:27AM A teenager is in hospital with burns after the metal rims of a car’s mag wheels melted during a police chase through Brisbane’s southern suburbs. The man, 18, was allegedly spotted by police driving a stolen car on Blunder Road at Oxley about 11.30pm on Monday. The teen failed to stop and police gave chase. Police twice deployed stingers and deflated the car’s tyres. Advertisement But the 18-year-old drove on, as the rubber of the tyres slowly disintegrated. It is understood the wheels of the car eventually started spinning uncontrollably and became so hot they began to melt, spraying molten metal across the road. When the car came to a stop the 19-year-old passenger handed himself in, but the driver tried to make a run for it. Police tackled the teenager to the ground in a small patch of the molten metal. The 18-year-old was taken by ambulance to the Princess Alexandra Hospital, where he remains under police guard. Police have confirmed two men are in custody. Am I meant to feel sorry for this moron?
If he had have wrapped himself around a pole I wouldn't care as it takes a useless oxygen thief out of the system.

It's not abnormal for crims to fake/exaggerate illness so that they can spend the night in a hospital bed instead of a prison cell. Unfortunately it means that the police have to assign two cops to sit there and watch instead of being out on the beat.

I fail to see the problem with the outcome of the situation.
Criminal did something stupid, basically hurt himself and then was arrested. That's a win win situation. |

I don't like the news headline. Should be 'Heroic officer crashes tackles car thief'.
