Default Install rear view camera in a 2012 Focus LW

G'day,

I have a 2012 Focus LW now which does not have a rear view camera. Can I replace the original display with one from later model? The Thai built Mk2 has a rear view camera. Has anybody done this?

Does the wiring harness on the LW MK1 have the camera connection considering the cars sold in Europe and US have rear view cameras. I presume the wiring harness on all LW models would be the same.

Can I get the whole audio/GPS unit from a later model and replace it? Is the software different or is it just plug n play?

Would love to hear your experience?

Thanks, OR

I have an aftermarket head unit with a camera input. I did buy this camera though and wired it up with my own cables as there was no existing cable in my car. http://s.click.aliexpress.com/e/AqjQFQB
Looks OEM and is integrated into the boot release handle.

I have a 2011 LW, I know that the later model Titaniums that have a rearview camera have them separate to the boot release handle.

If you do replace the display with another OEM you need to reprogram the car to tell it you have a different one installed otherwise it will not work. You also need the radio code.

It is not just plug and plug unfortunately.

Thanks for the response and link.

My car is a Titanium with F/R sensors.

That unit looks schmick but from what I understand, I will also need a new aftermarket headunuit. It won't work with the OEM.

I guess the radio code and reprogramming will be at dealer discretion. So unlikely
