Default XR5 Water in Oil

as above, no water in the coolant tank,

mate purchased a 2010 XR5 from auction, car was a repo and the front tyres were smoked...

I have done some searching on the Net and the Tube but found nothing definitive???

Without removing the head, has anyone experienced this issue and would know where to start looking?

I reckon it's a head gasket, but I'd appreciate feedback.

I have an OBD, but he's 200km away from me, so I'd like to get a better idea what's going on.
