What is the best paint for painting plastics and how do you prep plastics for painting?

Sand them, clean them thoroughly with something like Prepsol. Apply primer, sand lightly, quick wipe, spray a few coats of colour, then some clear.

how can i sand in all of the gaps in the grate in front of the windscreen? (thats what i would like to paint)

Ahhh with lots of effort. I know I didn't bother doing it on mine and it's held up fine for a good year or so. Just make sure you clean it thoroughly with Prepsol/metho..
I hope you're taking it off the car to paint  It's very simple and makes the job 10x easier.

Ummm whatever you like. Whether you want it to have a matt finish or a shiny one is up to you.

wet sand, clean with prepsol, spray on some adhesive promoter THEN spray on the color..

and I'll add just in case, do a very light coat first, then another after the paint is touch dry (don't touch abit you'll see
 : ) and a final third coat to ensure a good coverage. Dont just blast the paint on thick in one go, it won't look as neat and won't last as long...
