Default Replacing Transmission.

I am hoping someone can give me some advice here.

I have a 1988 LTD and need to do a tranmission exchange.
I have an EA with a good transmission and a poor motor, I am intending to take the transmission out of the falcon and put it into the LTD.

They are both three speeds.

Is there any thing that I should know before I get started?
What parts, seals, gasklets etc should I get first?
What problems am I likely to have?

Any advice from anyone who has replaced their transmission before would be appreciated.

cheers Roy

The swap will be quite easy.

Parts:
Pan gasket and filter for the new trans
15L of Dextron3

Problems:
none really, very easy swap

Also, if your engine rear main seal leaks this is the perfect oppourtunity to fix it.

It wouldn't hurt to replace the front trans seal while its out. They can harden if they haven't been used for a while.

the only thing that might be an issue is if the EA is CFI. (centerpoint injection)
the CFi cars had a different kickdown cable to the multi point cars....
