Default AfterMarket Air-Filter in the Box of I6 EF

Hi There

I already have the tickford snorkell on mine, now i want an aftermarket air-filter. but not a pod air-filter or all that other crap. i want the same square one that goes into the excisiting box. I went to repco and the guy recomended K & N and would cost 160 bucks, now thats alot but doesnt need changing for a while. Is K & N really the best or it it a matter of personal opinoin? and maybe if i can get it cheaper somewhere else?
Thanks

Personally i dont reckon there was stuff all difference when i changed to k and n,but i paid 40 bux for mine from a mate who aquired one for free so i thought ok ill bung it on.
People usually always go the kn filter though....and yeah just get a panel filter...pods are just for the **** factor

I have a K&N in mine and it's not bad. I've heard good things about BMC filters, I think Autobarn sell them.

I've heard the oil can bugger up the MAF? <-- For us 5.0 people..

Or is that only the case if some clown overoils their filter when cleaning it?

(I'd be doomed if I got a K&N) :P

correct me if I'm wrong, but won't all air filters have some sort of oil in them?

Except maybe the paper ones...

I've only had to re-oil mine once and I was very careful. My theory is: If I bugger up this maf it's aftermarket time :evilking:

sounds like good forward-planning! Or "post-preventive-maintenance" :hihi:

I'd probably buy a can of canola oil & give my paper filter a light spray :P she'll be right
