Since my youngest brother got his licence yesterday, I've been wondering that if any of us went to take a licence test again, would you pass first go?
Egos aside too thanks. Be honest. For me, it would be no.

Why isn't there a not sure option? I would like to think I would but couldn't guarantee it.

I'd probobly fail because i'd do something "wrong" like resting my foot on the clutch rather then using the footrest :
The excuse "The car I learnt in doesn't have a footrest" didn't work either, it's stupid |

honestly if we all had to do the license test again i reckon most of us will fail.
Its not the fact that were bad drivers its the fact a license test doesnt test ur driving ability its just an openning tests to see if u do the basics pefectly, the fact is that i (and many others) fall into bad habbits. |

It would be the reverse park that would see me fail - Did it once for the test 12 years ago and haven't done one since - they are very scary :O

lol, reverse park is simple as, tilt your left mirror down to the tyre and it's a piece of p1ss, plus on your test they usually ask you to do it where there are no other cars for 500 miles anyway.

I also can't reverse park. I was taught full lock, and somwhere between changing between a FWD, an AWD and a RWD during the week, I can't judge the turns for sh1t. Ah well, only 50 years to go until I have to do a test again.

I passed easily the first time around so as long as I remember to forget some of my learned bad driving habits I believe I would pass again :

I reacon 50% would fail based on slackness and bad habits.
Look at how others drive, it's amazing how bad they are. I personally have refused te be slack and still do all and more than is needed. Yes I am a model driver! :

I just dont know what the instuctor would think about me having left arm resting on the console.... smoke in the right hand (bring left hand up to hold steering wheel when you take a drag).... Playing air guitar at traffic lights or miming drum solos on the steering wheel... probably all frowned upon...

I'd have to concentrate on not going one handed as well, but I'd be ok. I reverse parallel park a fair bit at the moment.
Driving my truck helps me to pay attention more and I carry that onto my car. You notice a lot more idiots on the road, but luckily you anticipate their behaviour and avoid them. Maybe include defencive driving experience in a controlled environment into the licencing system and I might do it again..... |

I think I'd could pass it, I did it 2 years ago fairly easy. I reckon I'd be alright now. Give it 10 years and I might struggle...

I'd ace it, failed my P's test because someone gave way to me when in a slip lane. that was on the 1st of feb
went again 2nd feb and passed easy.. in a car i'd never driven/ different to what i learnt in (bigger and harder to reverse parralell too) I was really stoked to get the reverse park actually because I'd never practiced in that car it was my first try and i got it give me a year to pick up some bad habits and get lazy with shoulder checks so often and I'd probably fail (hopefully I don't get lazy)

I had to pass another test last year for paramedic, so I would say I would pass it easy. I have done a number of defensive driving and advanced driving courses so I am very used to having to go into test mode. Also in my daily job I have to drive large vehicles with more responsibilities than the average road user. So no problem at all.
The way I see most people drive, I would say not a hope for the average person. Indicators and mirror use would be huge killers.

I would say that I would fail. Although I have developed bad habits, you can always 'drive nice', so im not concerned about that.
Why I would fail is all of the little rules that don't break laws, but are required to pass the test. Keeping both hands on the steering wheel, acceptable distances from cars, acceptable length to slow down, NOT gear braking, etc etc...

To people who voted yes, why do you think you'd pass?
Wouldn't have you picked up some habits that not necessarily would kill someone, but are important on a driving test?

past first time ... long long ago ... in the days when the local Police Sergeant took the test
had long dirty hair, my first effort for a beard, pimpled skin and all the attitude to match .... he quized me with tricky quesionsfor 30mins at the Police station ... got through that .... then took me for a 40min drive .... including several reverse parallel parks ... I could do them back then he really tried his hardest to fail me mainly because I looked like I was on drugs ..... little did he realise that I was and thats why I passed : (just kidding (really!!)) no way could I get my licence first time now ... hard enough keeping it in VICTORIA !!!!!!
