Hi Everyone- hoping someone can help me out.
I recently purchased an AUII fairmont. It runs well, and I've had no major problems. Every now and then just after I've started the engine, it will stall, then it won't start again. When I turn the key all I get is a "click click click" noise. It dosn't even turn over. The only way I can get it to start up is to have it jump started. I don't know much about cars, but logic says to me to get a new battery. I'm not really sure if its the battery or something else, as the car starts first time every time, and the only time I have this problem is after its stalled. Anyone had a similar problem? Any info and help would be fantastic. Cheers |

maybe just try reset the ecu first ( just a matter of leaving the battery disconnected for about 40 mins or so then reconect it again , search 'reset ecu' if u want more info ) .. if you still get the problem after reseting the ecu then i'de maybe check the battery next , let the ecu reset again if you go a new battery ..gl , could be heaps of things , but thats the first things i'de check ;) , is prolly 1 or the other . Allthough sounds more like a knackered battery to me imo, especially if its stalling when loading up the electrical system .
Oh , welcome to the forums too ! :eclipsee_

could be more than that ... you might have a faulty coil pack ... seeing as it started and runs ... then stalls on you.
It could be a battery ... best way to check with with a multimeter ... also check to see what the water levels are in the battery as well. Do the dash lights dim when it clicks (ie: not kicking over)? You might also have an issue with a faulty alternator as well not charging the battery ... a common issue is the power steer pump leaking power steer fluid into the alternator (as it is directly below) ... causing premature alternator failure. Also when it stalls is the battery light and airbag light on ... and odometer screen going blank, etc. Just a few question to get more info on this problem. Is it petrol or on LPG????
