Default Anyone else pulled up in the Street Performance cruise road block?

Just wondering if anyone else here was pulled up in the Police road block on Warragul Road (I think), Moorabbin at about 11PM on Saturday night, and had their car doors smashed shut and made to sit on the side of the road like an idiot and verbally abused by the Constable??

I put in a complaint with Cheltenham Police Station where the officer was from and was told that he would be talked to by the Sargeant because the person in charge that night that I spoke DID believe his actions were (in her words) "over exuberant".

The next step would be to take it to the Ethical Standards Department (ESD), but I don't want to do that myself.

I was in the EA. The Sargeant ended up letting me off, he was a good bloke but I really would like to take some steps to complain about the officer who abused me, my brother and pretty much all the driver's in the cars who were stopped.

I ended up going to Nunawading Police Station on the way home and the officer there told me where the officer was from and to put in a complaint with that station, which I did. I wasn't entirely satisfied with the response I got, so I want to take it to the next level.

I have written a letter to the Herald Sun.

What is the link to the post at Street Performance? Are they doing anything?

I've been abused before when Doug got his second defect after ripping a burnout coming out of Baysy Maccers. That didn't compare to this though, this was bad.

Well the officer said something like "WHAT THE #### DO YOU THINK YOUR DOING HERE YOU ###### ##### YOU'RE ####### DRAG RACING I ####### KNOW GET OUT OF THE ####### CAR SIT ON THE ####### GUTTER THERE YOU ####### ##### I KNOW WHAT YOU"RE DOING" about 3 inches from my face at full volume.

He then so politely opened the door for me to let me out and slammed it shut hard enough to make my courtesy lamp cover fall off.

Criminal Damage.

If you have proof of any verbal/racial abuse take his down as hard as you can. Cops like this give the general police force a bad rep.

Geez, power trip. You should take it further, but unfortunately I don't think one person's opinion is going to make a difference.

There were 25 cars or so that were pulled up behind me. I'm pretty sure each one was abused, so that should make a pretty fair case if I can get 5 people together. If the Herald Sun don't reply though I know I'll be pretty much pushing #### up hill so I'll let it go.

I was pretty lucky, the Sargeant goes to me "Have you been doing any burnouts mate?" and I'm like "Um no Sir, the 18's are too expensive" and he's like "What size would you do them on?" I said "15's"

I'd recommend stay out of any cruises going towards Moorabbin in future they're laying the smackdown up there. The lady at Cheltenham Police told me they are cracking down on cruises at DFO and at the drags in Oakleigh. If you're in that area with a modified car expect trouble from the Police.

Anyone who attends illigal street drags, to watch or participate deserves all the heckelling they recieve.

Organised club cruises with rules are a WHOLE diffrent kettle of fish.

I actually saw one of these near Caulfield on Thursday. They had pulled up a lowered VL without a front bumper (sounds like a typical VL driver). I was in the courtesy car from the mechanics, as the EA was getting the head gasket done. The courtesy car was a fully sick 1980's Pulsar complete with massive exhaust and tons of stickers. It certainly would have been interesting if I'd been pulled over in that.

Maybe the cop had been watching too many trailers for "Tokyo Drift" as i'm sure that has numerous scenes of irate cops having the 'hoons' get away from them. I can understand why cops are cracking down on hoons, and that's great, if they ARE hoons, but yes the modified car is sterotypically looked upon as a hoon car, not an enthusiast car, which sucks, but that's not going to change, it's going to get worse with the new hoon laws which i THINK were implemented June 1 in Vic ?

18" wheels is a defect on an EA, x 4 = canary! :P Cops don't often bust for bigger wheels though.

Hard luck mate, sounds like you got a raw deal, take it as high as you feel comfortable.

Sunny don't expect the media to go against the police. It is not in there interest and will not sell papers.
You will not be pushing **** up hill but it will not be very easy. Not hard either. Sit down with outher drivers and occupants and write down every fact. No assumtions. Each person who felt disrespected will need to write an official complaint.
If they are written in a serious manner they will be taken seriously and actioned seriously.

That's crap. Just because you drive a nice looking car, that doesn't instantly make you a hoon. Good job at sticking up for yourself. Hope the constable gets a good talking to from his superiors for his behaviour.

Hmm it does suck but to be honest a good majority of the cars probably dont meet many laws. You get people on power trips no matter where you go, my bloody real estate agent for one.

But to be fair if any of the participants are like the numbskulls you see talking back to police then I dont blame them for being "harsh".

I get the impression the cops were responding to reports of burnouts at DFO.
which is fair enough.
there was no less then 5-10 cars doing burnouts at DFO at the time we left, unfortunately myself and a few other members were stuck in a line up of cars trying to get out.
Sunny managed to get us all out by holding up the line that was getting out quickest.

I don't think its the fact that they were pulled over, its the way it was handled.
i was just lucky i got away.... my door would fall off if it was slammed that hard.

i was on the first streetper4mance cruise and quite a lot of the guys there were doing burnouts so we left. on the way leaving saw a bunch of cops flying after them. they get good turnouts but in my opinion have trouble controlling the crowd.
what happened to you guys happens on most cruises. after a call of a few people on the cruise doing burnouts they target the cruise and pull over the members. it sucks if you did nothing though. happened to me on a beastclub cruise.
good luck sunny with whatever path you wish to follow. the abuse is the cop abusing his power and authority.

There's a saying "If you lay down with dogs, you will get fleas"
In the above case, perhaps you were minding your own business, and the officer in question was completely out of line with his antics.
Look at the incident from the other side for 1/2 a second, and you will possibly see things in a different light.
The police were responding to reports of 'hooning' & the like.(from sounds of things a regular occurance on cruises with this particular club) They turn up after the culprits have already fled, with a few 'peers' attempting to depart the scene as well. As a member of the general public, I would certainly hope they WOULD speak with members of the club to sort things out (like it or not it is their job).
When the officer was asking questions, did you pass on the names / number plates of those that actually CAUSED the confrontation with the police in the first place? (the ones responsible for the police targeting 'innocent?' drivers)Will you be passing details of these idiots onto ACA? or TT? Would the burnouts still have taken place if not for the 'safety in numbers' mentality offered by this clubs cruise?
How bout taking some responsibility for what happened, speak with ya feet, & refuse to attend 'cruises' that are frequented by idiots. Never know may save you the hassles of the police singling YOU out for attention in the future.

if it was me i wouldn't be telling them squat...Its not my job to do that...if i didn't anything wrong then i shouldn't have to help them out for me guilty by association...the cops can do it the hard way

ive met cool cops..but they were still fining me and i have never had a cop do anything nice in my favour

What a brilliant attitude mate.

Please can we have someone clean this thread (including this post) and leave all the good stuff relating to advice & info for Sunny?

Oooh, ooooh, was the copper wearing his bright yellow reflective vest? He'll be copping a $1000 fine if he wasn't

I think you should seriously look into this if it's possible there will be a positive outcome for you. The Police force (despite what people think) really do not like this kind of behaviour. Do you have any video or photo proof at all of the incident?
