Considering that a large percentage of new cars are sold to fleets, in these fuel conscious times it is likely that many companies will seriously consider a 4 cylinder car for their fleets. Most fleet managers are not car enthusiasts and therefore see cars as just another commodity (i.e. no emotional attachment). Therefore I predict the new Camry will sell very well.

That looks seriously ugly. Toyota has been the manufacturer to beat recently however a few chinks are starting to appear.
In particular their styling is going south on many of their models in my opinion. On the other hand, without bias, the BA/BF is one of the best looking cars on the road today. In my opinion, Ford Australia hasn't made such a good looking car since the XB. Just my opinion though. |

Looks like something along the lines of the 300c. It looks alright, the side is starting to grow on me.
Agreed to what Mutley said; the BA/BF looks very good! |

It's got nothing to do with looks though people.
Companies are going to want a cheap car (that's also cheap to run) and that's reliable (which Toyota are). |

On toyotas, I spoke to a guy I know who works there and he has told me the Aurion will be standard with 202kw and 6 speed auto.
Then there is te TRD version to come on top of that. |

It's quite safe conservative styling, but it's quite handsome. In terms of satisfying the typical buyer, they will have succeeded, but in terms of winning over the young'uns, probably not. But hey, I don't think Toyota has many more buyers to win over.

Lexus clone, always was predicted to be anyway, i like the lexus design direction but the camry isnt supposed to be a class leader in looks, its a car for people who dont care if their car is the best.

I wouldn't buy a new commodore or Falcon over that new camry!! It has more equipment then the Calais and Ghia put together and half the price. And if you can get the V6 - 6 speed auto in Australia then I could love with front wheel drive, and I don't need the space! Perfect car for my wife, if the Forester XT didn't exist LOL!

I dont think that camry looks too bad, Its good they poach some technology and designs from sister company LEXUS. Only question I have is Wont the new Aurion be a direct competitor for the Camry????
I think fleet buyers arent too concerned with what vehicles they purchase, as long as after the lease is up they can sell them somewhere close to what they originally cost in order to re-fleet. I work for a major rental company, we have only just gotten rid of our BA MK2's and wont be getting any BF's. Instead have some new camry's, 380's and are getting Subaru Wagons also. Having said that, I dont think the 380's will retain much resale value either.... but couldnt be as pathetic as BA and VY/VZ Holdens. |

Incorrect, the 2 cars are totally different. I used to work for Toyota, the Aurion is not based off the camry at all!

Not a fan of the Camry, and by the looks of it, won't be in the near future either.

Aurion/Camry's interior looks pretty classy based on what I've seen so far.

Saw one months ago without any camo at canley vale. Thought that they were on sale already. All i can say is that it looks alot better in the flesh. In terms of looks, it'll make the BF looked outdated, and with the introduction of the VE and Aurion models, its wont help the falc either.

Camrys like most Toyotas have always been ugly, poorly equiped & brain crushingly dull but that's what a lot of people look for in a car unfortunately. I like my fridge, it keeps my beer cold other people like them so much they want to drive them it seems.
