Default Question about the Monaro on Top Gear

Remember back in 2003 Clarkson tested the Monaro GTO spec in that very funny clip where he drifts it again and again.

my question has nothing to do with car, but the music in the clip.

What is the song that comes on when he starts talking about the cars practicality, it comes on about 4min:11sec into the clip.

Are the Pommy spec Monaroes the same spec as our local ones? The figs quoted in the UK were 183mph top speed which is nearly 300kph....thats quick!

He mentioned something about a different suspension/chassis setup for Europe.

That's given me a whole different view of the ol' Monaro!

Here's another good one with the LS2 and some drifting

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G99DE...elated&search=

BTW, I love the music and photography that Top Gear uses. They have some pretty unique ideas too; I watched one with Toyota Aygos(?) playing soccer, another with a Benz and Porsche screaming around an army practice ground.

Jeremy Clarkson is a bit of a funny bastard too.

Well judging by the body kit it's the equivalent of HSV GTO here, so that top speed would seem quite possible, especially with the 6 speed.

I believe the model they tested for that feature was the Vauxhaul VXR a morph of Monaro CV8 and GTO. Engine power is most certainly the 255kw engine instead of the 235-245kw we got for the CV8.

I will agree its good to see the Poms falling in love with simple big aussie based saloon cars for relatively good money. I still say Topgear should review a BF GT against a Cadillac CTSV and pitch it against the new Jag XJ8 for fun. The english speaking world showing the world the way a 4 door saloon should be. Big power, plenty of space, good handling and to hell with the fuel.

Aah, that makes sense- i had forgotten that it was an amalgum of the two cars by Vauxhall.....still love it though!
I'd love to see the FPV tested- the BA was tested over there by Wheels a couple of years back I think......

Top Gear program is by far the best program on telly. Jeremy Clarkson and his mates are absolute car nuts.

They showed old programs from 2004 on SBS a while ago. It would be great if they were more regular over here and more up to date.

And who is Stig?? I suspect he's a well known race car driver.

Yeah i love top gear, they thrash the cars and put comedy into it. If they dont like it they will say so, by using smart insults.
Would absolutely love to see them test the typhoon and GT and maybe even the ute veriants.

It's great to see an overseas review praising an aussie car.

How they said you have perfect seats (no other word for them), spot on driving possition, outstanding ride comfort, spae in the back for adults and a massive boot..... Unbelievable.

Maybe they should have had a crack at the coupe 4 LOL.

Love the "u bloody poof, bloody pom" comments, these videos are always good for a laugh!

Yeah, after watching either one of those topgear videos - I wanted a Monaro. The praise for it, even directed at the GM side, is enough to make me all misty eyed.
