Default anyone fit a turbo kit off ebay?

Gday guys, Ive just bought my ford falcon, its a series 3 au forte. Ive had it a week and ive already lowered it it, fitted 18 inch wheels , and fitted extractors and exhaust.
I dont know about you guys, but i have acess to a dyno, and was suprised to see that after fitting ectractors and exhaust, it only gained 7hp at the wheels, from 163 to 170hp. The air fuels are suprisingly still rich bout 11.8.
I actually only did it to lean it out a bit so its better on fuel, but i havnt really succeded in either really making any power or fuel economy,{currently getting about 480kms on 60 litres round town}

Anyway, what I would like to know is, has anyone bought a bolt on turbo kit from ebay, theyre supposedly around the $1000 mark. Has anyone fitted one, and what power , problems etc encountered. cheers

Did you reset your ecu before the second run? Your ecu might take a while to relearn the new mixtures a lil.

There are a few Turbo kits kicking about. Haven't seen one for $1000. Got a link?

snip , If your primary objective is to lean it out for economy reasons, dont go to the trouble of a turbo as you will endup using more fuel. Get an Edit / Unichip / Chiptorque. I gained 14 Rwkw with a unichip and my A/F were simiar to yours.

I thought putting exhausts on these cars actually make them run richer?

I only found out about them today, apparently the place is called monsta performance, a couple weeks ago they had heaps for sale, but know theres none. there is still 1 on there for 1000 but its still up for auction.

I didnt reset the ecu after i did these mods, how would i do this, and would it still make a differenc? Ive been driving it for almost a week now, surely if the ecu was self learning it would be set, No?

I figured since it wasnt good on fuel, I might as well fit a turbo and at least go faster.

No im not getting a turbo to lean it out, that was the objective of the exhhaust and extractors, I just figured since I cant get fuel economy, I might as well not get fuel economy but have power.
I was told bout these kits, not sure if its true, but as ive said, ther is one on ebay now, thats 100 bucks.

But in any case, even if its 3 grand, is there any feedback on a simular bolt on tubo kit?

$3k kit ends up being closer to $5k by the time you fit it and buy all the other things you need. For engine longevity and reliability, Intercooler and rising rate fuel regulator are a must (even for low boost; they help to stop fuel starvation and pinging), but neither are included in the snort kits. I did a heap of reseach into these kits about 12 months ago. The thing that really put me off was the ongoing yearly bill oif 42k to have insurance ($2500 compared to $450 now). Also, to be legal, you need engineers certificate, and possibly emmissions test.

3 grand kits come with cooler. One of them come with dump pipe back to and including cat.

Only mod need for au is the piping from cooler to T/B

That's good that they've included an IC, but the piping is still around $600 worth, IIRC.

490 kays from 60 litres is pretty reasonable economy compared to what some guys get.

you want better economy? go easy on the right foot.

For sure. Post your progress up here http://www.fordforums.com.au/forumdisplay.php?f=135

I'm in the same boat with going the turbo route except I have quite a few bits to buy yet.
