Default LR Footwell Lighting

Well, at some ungodly hour, like 2am this morning, after blowing a fuse while messing with the centre interior light and accidentally bridging the curcuits ( I have replaced the blub with an LED bulb for cooler white light) I opened the glovebox to get to the fuse box and my torch light came across something I have heard rumours of but never seen.

I discovered the truth behiond the rumour that Aussie-delivered LR Foci (at least Zetec models) had the holder for a passenger footwell bulb already wired up, just missing the bulb itself. I found it taped up to another loom, and true to form, when I undid the tape, it dropped down. I simply had to punch out the pre-cut blank for the bulb holder in the felt bottom lining under the golvebox and hey presto, a 5W wedge base bulb (same as side indicators, or front headlight parkers.) works and lights up the footwells when the central interior light comes on as the doors open!!!!!!!!

I also discovered the driver side one as well, neatly taped to a bigger loom under the steering column, found by unscrewing the little parcel shelf under there with the data port. There's another bulb holder that this clips into at the base of the parcel shelf.

So to cut a long story short, both the driver and passenger sides have a blank holder for the footwell lighting taped to another loom underneath, all you have to do it find it and plug in a 5w wedge base bulb. Most of us have a pair lying around, the clear ones that came out of our stock orange lense side indicators!!!

I have purchased a couple of LED wedge bulbs to also now plug in to the footwells and all that it finally needed is the lense from the ghia to cover up the blank in the passenger side footwell.

Will post pics shortly to explain further!

Bloody well done Matt. It is so much easier to search for these things when you know what you're searching for exists

Went to the wreakers today and found that the lens in the boot is the same as the one under the dash, and alot easier to find.

Just as I suspected! I'll get a price on Monday for everyone for the lense brand new.

How much did it cost at the wreckers?

got 2 for $15, plus one plug, will use it on the other side of boot one day.

about 10 or more focus's in the weakers, all full frontal impacts, very strange.

Dedicated ford wreakers in Adelaide, I asked, and they have never seen a Ghia or ST170.
