Lonesta,

Welcome to the Forums. Lots of Focus LR fans here. And your turbo project will get lots of folks excited!! Keep us updated.

Plus there are quite a few people in the forum with some good knowledge on Focus, including turbo projects, so feel free to ask any questions (even dumb ones....they are usually the best ones anyway)

Not sure of final price just yet, will all depend on dyno tuning ect, tell ya the final price after i paid it lol...im scared.

All engine internals will stay stock, It will be mated up to the stock exhaust...for now, stock clutch...gonna have to be careful i think :P. Kit includes GT 28R roller bearing turbo, intercooler, injectors and microtech ecu. The ASE turbo kit is capable of producing 130KW at the wheels at 7PSI with standard engine. Ive seen youtube videos of a turbo focus at 6psi doing 14.7 1/4 mile.

Mind you, not totally standard. Bodykit, aftermarket alloys, clear indicators.

It looks good. And not many reds around

Alloys look like the "SVT Contour" alloys, those fitted stock to Cougars from memory. Looks like you bought them through Wheel King?

Good to have you as one of us now, always great to have another 3 door LR Zetec!!!

I'd HIGHLY HIGHLY recommend a new exhaust at the very least, the stock exhaust is far too restrictive for the car even without a turbo, there's no way it'll cope with the stock exhaust once the turbo id fitted. I'd suggest a 2.25" or 2.5" exhaust with a single central muffler and a nice 3.5 inch tip welded on, should be absolutely perfect. It won't be too loud, but just allow the car to breathe enough, trust me on that. Talking about $300 fitted from any local exhaust shop for mild steel, more for stainless. Shouldn't need more than mild steel.

You're spot on though, the car does not need more than 160kw, anymore and it'd be undriveable. I reckon you're spot on. Can't wait!!!

No idea the wheels actually came with the car lol, i bought the car from a dealership with 15,000km on the clock. Id much rather some speedy Lite 5's on my car. Keeping the current ones clean is a *****.

Definately the exhaust will be a future proposition. The boss of autosport engineering is still running is stock exhaust and his focus is at 185kw at the wheels O.O, god knows what the backpressure on the turbo is like. But i wouldnt mind a 2.5 inch system, maybe even a hi-flo cat.

Hey Zetec

Im new to this forum and mods. Ive been thinkung abt a freeflow exhaust as well. But do I have to alter my headers if I do that?

No need to alter the headers or the cat converter. The headers are fine and the converter is good for up to about 160kw.

All you need it to cut off the stock exhaust behind the cat (and keep it, it's a good quality stainless exhaust and will live as long as the car if you ever want to put it back on) and then find a local exhaust shop or someone recommended to you by a friend.

You'll simply need a mild steel 2 1/4 inch exhaust with one single central good flow muffler. No need to go high-flow and UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES should you get a cannon/hot-dog muffler either, they sound terrible and destroy the throatiness of the Zetec engine.

A setup like this will give you strong mid-range and nice top end, with a nice raspy note and free-flowing over-run when you lift off the throttle and hear the exhaust crackling on engine braking. It won't be loud at 100km/h, no drone and is a really nice match for the engine's note. I had mine for 2 years and only took it off because I had to slow myself down, I loved thrashing the car to hear that gorgeous note! To this day, it's still the best ever exhaust I have ever heard on a Focus, and many people on here will support me on that!

I paid $300 installed, including a 3 inch chrome time, all quality installed and very happy with it.

Here's a link to video/sound of it in action!!
