After reading several Diesel threads, its becoming more and more painfully apparent that Ford Aus STILL hasn't got a diesel passenger car in it's range...
I hear the Diesel Focii are on the way, aswell as a Falcon/Territory diesel being under development; but Ford is missing an opportunity to capitolise on this booming market- its almost criminal. Does anyone have any information regarding the afforementioned products? ( Especially the local diesels) I'm talking in terms of when, what motor's they will have etc. |

PS I am aware there is a diesel thread a few cm's down the page, but I thought it would be a good idea to start a Ford specific one as opposed to hijacking another one...

As I mentioned in another thread somewhere, GM are developing their own global car diesel engines. One is a 2.9L V6 (you would expect 170-180kw/500-520Nm), the other is a 4.5L V8 (expect 240kw/700-750Nm) I read that these engines will be produced in 2008, so no doubt Holden will have access to these.
Ford Australia should get the 2.7TDV6, 3.6TDV8 and 4.4TDV8 ready for the Falcon, Territory and Fairlane long before Holden get those two engines. |

yeah that's right, but GM aren't producing it, Holden are sourcing it from VM- i would suspect Holden will switch over to the GM produced diesel for obvious reasons - which is also Euro5 compliant - so the VM Motori diesel in the Commodore might only last a little over a yr?

I have no info as to what engine and or when but let's hope it's soon.
Which Turbo Diesel? I don't know. I posted elsewhere that the Hilux 3.0CRD or D4D is now in the updated Prado so I suggested maybe the 3.0 CRD Ranger engine may be considered too. Tweaked of course like the Toydonka is for more power and torque. Prado offers common-rail direct-injection 3.0L fourcylinder turbo diesel with 127kw(3400rpm) and 410nm (1600-2800rpm) My best guess is that we'll see a Territory update at the Melbourne Motor Show, been 3 1/2 years after all. This should probably have to last till October 2008 at the earliest if Orion est. timing of Easter 08 is correct. Depends on ute and LWB Orions too. My best guess is that the Melbourne Motor Show should have a TurboDiesel Territory and maybe even LPG or Dual Fuel. Sedans to follow say July 07. Couldn't resist including this snippet as a potential Diesel Territory launch stunt. It would pull the crowds - literally. Quote:
