Question Your parent's ride, Love it or hate it

I want to get a general overview on why people drive their parents car instead their own. Flashy, bigger, black, smaller ?

I have a few reasons. My Integra cannot comfortably fit 4 ppl inside, avoid excessive KM : and less police attention for mods.
Thinking of getting a different car to be honest.

I drive mum's '99 E240 sometimes. Love the sweet sound of that 2.4L V6. It's older than my BA but still flashier IMO.

My dad has a '94 S320. For those of you who don't know... it's a 2.1 ton sedan powered by a puny 170kw 3.2L I6. It's extremely comfortable and quite but absolutely terrible to drive. Firstly, a 2.1 ton sedan is never to going to handle like a sports car, secondly the steering is extremely light and lacks feel, and thirdly the accelerator pedal is extremely difficult to depress.

Has an extremely nice interior (for a '94 model) that would put any ford in its place Lol.

My dad has a 1968 Morris Mini K which is at the spray shop atm but is mechanically all cooper S but with mods... i love driving it... the worlds only legal go-cart. Nothing better than pulling up beside V8 Commos or Falcons and drilling them from the lights

I borrow theILs Hilux ute, not as much fun as the previous Cruiser tray but just as handy, the Discos awesome for offroading and the 06 S type is nice for a night out especially as there's no kid seats in the back.
We generally only have the T around our house as I work nights so I regularly drag the XR5 back from Dads for a weekend cobweb blowout or borrow one of their Escape family hacks for errand running.

Family extends the Fleet if you treat em OK - Payback for scoring 'em mates rates deals too.

Test drove a Q7 3.0TD and Merc GL today with MIL and it's a bloody good vehicles - fingers crossed they trade the Jag on one. Love our T but these are vvvery nice.

Folks have a VTII Acclaim.
I drive it because I haven't got a car. Don't have the money.
When you're a lazy uni student, you simply don't care.
I access most places by public transport. Parking at Telstra Dome sucks.

Mum has a BA XR6, which I reckon is a bit ho hum. Dad drives a BFII XR8 Ute. Leather, Luxury pack interior, 6 speed Auto.

I drive a Fiesta, and probably therefore don't need to explain why I like taking the ute out from time to time....

Dads AU Futura Classic is faster than mine.
Mums Focus SR is faster than mine

The AU Falcon is starting to grow on me, I quite like the shape.

I drive my friends mum's Mercedes CLK320 and his dad's VW V8 Touareg. Looking pretty flash with L plates on.

They both fly. Nothing like hitting the high RPMS and feeling those comfy seats.

My parents cars: Daewoo Nubira and a Ford Focus
Our cars: (look in the sig)

Hard choice, but i just cannot tear myself away from the buzzing the Woo makes as it revs its guts out going up the hill that I never knew existed when driving in an XR8...

My mum drives a BA XR6T. She has always driven these kinds of cars, last car was an AU XR8, before that was an AU Fairlane, EL XR8 etc etc

My old man drives a two door Escort RS2000 as his daily driver. Fantastic car, full whiteline suspension, extractors, few other bits and pieces. By far one of the most fun cars to drive, and it's a car that you actually drive, not the other way around. No power steering, sports steering wheel and fat wheels is quite the combination when it comes to going around small roundabouts. No traction control or electric windows or any of that, the car takes effort to drive.

Weekend car is a Pontiac Fiero GTV6. This thing absolutely hammers, 2.6L V6, which will be replaced with a 3.8L V6 once this engine kicks the bucket. I don't understand why this car isn't on the prohibited vehicles list.

Towing/work car, 79 FC LTD. Recentley had the heads done on the 351. Looks nice and low with its 26 year old shagged suspension. Has a nice homemade roobar too [/sarcasm]. Last time we were going out to our property, hit two 6ft roos and one of the spokes from the grill speared the radiator. So we decided to add a little protection.

They are all fantastic cars to drive, can't drive the LTD or the XR6T anymore though, now that I am on my provisional license. When my car is broken (which is pretty much every weekend, 87 Nissan EXA) I take my old mans escort, and I tell ya, it's depressing going back to the exa. The escorts are fantastic cars. Ah well, my EF should be arriving tommorow.

Anyway, sorry about the novel

parents rides.....

mum: god alone knows, i havent spoken to her in years, last i heard it was a pussbox (and rustbox) sigma.....
dad: 1989 Nissan Nomad, good van, but not my kinda thing, so i dont drive it, and i dont like motorbikes either, so i dont ride any of this 3 motorbikes (BMW R100RS, BMW R65LS, Kawasaki 454LTD)

funny thing is, dad keeps bugging me to sell my sprint and buy a 7 series BMW...... i keep telling him i'm not buying a car that he'll want to drive all the time......

Dad drives AUI Fairmont 6 cyl. Silver.

Mum drives Mazda 626. Blue, auto. They got it cheap on a runout sale as the Mazda 6 came in.

I dont like autos. I dont drive autos. They are both auto. I dont drive them.

My Dad needs a BF2 GT, black, manual, etc... My Mum needs driving lessons. I dont think either of them will get what they need.

My mum drives a Nissan NX, I really like it. It's an SR20DE so it's got lots of torque and it's a very comfortable ride.

Dad has a '93 Toyota Hiace Diesel, it's a work car, there's nothing to like about it. Even dad hates the thing!
