I had the same issue. Ended up using some black self tapping screws instead, and drilled them into the rubber, then the skirt, then the body. Being black, they are hidden by the rubber.

oh REALLY

might give bunnings a visit then!!

no trouble with water getting in or wind noise from the seal?
or has the seal"sprung" back up around the screw causing it to be perfectly fine??

thanks JC! much appreciated

I'll get a photo for you to show you roughly where to put the screws so that it holds the rubber strip down, and so it's not visible once the doors are closed. To help with sealing, I dipped the screws in silicon sealant (selleys all clear, IIRC), just to ensure that no unwanted moisture gets in under the sills.

Photo below. I used 7 screws all up. They are little black mushroom head ones - around 8g or 10g by 12mm.

Blackers,

I had the same trouble fitting AU2/3 skirts to my AU1. Ended up getting longer clips from Ford. The AU1s have just enough plastic protruding to attach the seal strip only. The AU2/3 clips make an allowance for skirt thickness. The other difference is there are 2 more clip retaining holes in the AU1s. So I had to drill and slot two more slots on the skirts. The clips were less than $2 each from memory (sorry, turfed the receipt). If going this way put the new clips in the seal strip lining 'em up with the appropriate slots in the sill and skirt. A lot easier than putting the clips in the sill, skirt over the top and trying to clip the seal strip over the top.

Rob

Forgot to mention there's another black metal clip that's used to mount underneath. 4 a side is sufficient.
