in terms of performance, there is a noticable difference.
there is about 7kw difference between the 2 cars, but most of the performance gain is due to the 3.45LSD fitted to the XR6 compared to the 3.08 fitted to the GLi.
XR6's also got a few more options in terms of power windows.

the actual difference to the engine is basically restricted to the top end.
VERY slight exhaust changes.
Better head & Exhaust valves.
camshaft with more duration
Fuel regulator for more fuel
different ECU to suit the XR.

EF XR6's had 164KW EF GLI's had 157KW IIRC, mechanical difference is that the XR6 had a 3.45 LSD, the head was different and the cam was a bit more aggressive, that's all I know.

very hard to say, i can notice the difference on a brand new xr6 turbo and a brand new xr6 turbo and the difference on a Au and a Au. In therory the xr6 should go better but you never know. the difference is engien wise, portsizes, valve springs (firmer), cam, ECU tables and really thats bout it.

Supposebly the power/torque in an XR is flatter/smoother throughout the rev range giving it a bit of an advantage, or so i have heard....

if u wondering whether its worth purchsing the xr6 solely for its performance over a gli then its not really justified in my opinion but then u do get some nice extras like better seats and twin headlights
