Stock.
EFFalcon has a standard one (will up until a few weeks ago) then he upgraded the shift solinoid. He's be giving that trans around 230kw's. snypereb is running similar power through a worn T5. He just upgraded the clutch.

T5 good for around 220rwkw
BTR 4 Speed good for up to 300rwkw if rebuilt with all the goodies TKO around the 450rwkw T56 up around the 500rwkw C10 750rwkw Powerglide some stupid amount of power. Just to throw a spanner in all these figures Eddie Testone still runs a T5 in his 1300rwhp commodore, but it is a dyno queen. |

EASPRINT is getting a C10 from Big Lukes House of Horsepower with a transbraked reversed pattern manual valve body. The same as the one in the JMM red EB. STOKEB has a C4 with a manual valve body. |

I blew a T5 apart with just over 200rwkw...they are dodge.
MV Automatics reckon they can build a BTR to handle about 600rwhp, or supply just a valve body for about 400rwhp on a good condition but otherwise stock box. If you don't have very sticky tyres you can keep a T5 alive for longer, because the tyres will absorb some of the torque (in smoke hehe) |

Use the standard 4 speed with a electronic shift kit, massive trans cooler and good oil.
If it blows up buy one for $50 (there's plenty around, look hard enough) and either fit it yourself in a couple of hours or get a cab depot to do it for $150. They're good until a solenoid goes or a band goes. Then they give you all sorts of trouble. Sundeep |

i have a 40,000km stock btr auto with a electronic shift kit.
lasted a year on 220rwkw with no problems at all. my car now has 287rwkw and the auto slip's really badly, some times it wont even change gears and sits on the limiter.

Is there strength differences between EA-EL 5speed boxes? I know there are minor changes but you would think the EL would be stronger than EA, wouldnt you?

I rang up a trans place about the BTR's last week, cause I was looking at rebuilding mine. They sell rebuild kits for $395 DIY, and also a 'race' kit which is $795 DIY. That included upgraded valve body, stronger bands and a bunch of other stuff. They reckon it'll handle 450hp with a 3.08 diff, or 500-550hp with a higher diff ratio. For them to put it all together with a new converter it was about $3k.
