Way too much ... if i listed everything I think I'd fall over in shock though.

Alot of money goes into servicing and maintaining the ute though ... gets serviced once a month ... anda lot of kays gets put on it ... but it's definitely over $7500 though .... EASY.

OK ... here goes:

replacement engine = $800
Heavy duty 4-speed auto = $2000
brakes = $800
transmission cooler = $100
filter = $80
snorkel = $30
headlights = $400
nudgebar = $400
driving lights = $430
foglights = $160
bodykit and paint = $1500 (approx)
exhaust + extractors = $1000
suspension = $800
17" wheels + tyres = $700
Tint = $200
Interior bits = $200

Total = $9600

There's plenty more ... I have only thought of this off the top of my head.

Ok, not much but here goes:

2000 AU2 Fairmont Ghia VCT: $10,000 (in July '05 with 70k. kms)
Clear side repeaters: $40
Bosch Wiper blades: $20
New stone tray and wheel arch liners after spinning it on the Eastern Freeway and ripping them off coming back down the embankment: $250
Climate control panel fix (liquidxtal) $60.

So basically nothing on mods, however I'm always on the eye out for some second hand Tickford rims, be it the 5 spokers or 18" Pursuit ones, if they come along at the right price I'll be getting them for sure.

Bought the car for $12000 just over a year ago, and have spent about $7000 on it since then. Stereo, diff and edit being the major changes. Then just smaller things like rims, steering wheel and other bits an pieces, and i am far from finished yet! :

floor mats, nice seat covers, weathershield, dashmat = $200
next thing is front AU3 mudflaps (as AU2 mudflaps don't fit when you have the AU3 skirts).
I don't want to spend any more money. But i know i'm going to have to at some stage. That's cars for you.

I really haven't spent much on mine - getting close to the $10k mark. My problem is that I have six cars to spend money on - I am simply not brave enough to start counting for them all or I'd go hang myself.

And if I counted back over the past 35 years ... @ almost a car a year ... back to my very first car ... you could buy several small country towns ...

Yep, tyres as well. Avg 70 to 80% tread left. Some gutter scrape damage, and one has a fair scratch on one of the spokes (2nd pic below).

Very good point. You spend the money because you enjoy doing modding the car.

But i've spent some where around the $5k mark.

Like JC, I have 2 AUs.

Futura Wagon
Rims, Tyres, Alpine 6 CD Changer, Tickford Snorkel, K&N, Chrome surround for auto stick, some black pinstripes, Flashlube Kit, Slotted Rotors.

SR Sedan
Exhaust, Tyres, XR Springs, Pedders' Shocks, Tickford Snorkel, K&N, Chrome surround for auto stick, some silver pinstripes, LPG, Flashlube Kit, Leather Steering Wheel, Slotted Rotors.

Plus other bits and pieces I'm sure.

This of course doesn't include things that have gone wrong and needed fixing! I'd hate to actually add the whole lot up! :

*GK does quick figures in his head*

I ticked the $7,500 to $10,000 box without adding up everything! Yikes!

Thanks JC - sorry for delayed response, great offer, but really want to get some mint condition ones. (Really cannot work out how to say that without sounding like an ****?!)

But $500 is great - I've just paid out $400 on 4 new tyres for the standard 16" rims... hmmm... trying to justify to the missus that i can sell the Ghia rims to help fund the purchase of the 17" or 18" replacements though.

Cheers.

Lowered, 2 1/2" zorst, hi flo cat, new 17" tyres and AMG mags = $2500.00.
Of course now I have the bug there will be more spent, in good time and when I can build up the "cunning kit"
