hey guys,
i currently own a EL gli 4L... i have recently got a pay rise and i dont know what to do. my options are as follows, 1. keep the gli get an exhuast system extractors etc 2. buy a el or ef xr6 and do a little bit of work to it nothing major though. As i have never driven a xr6 can someone please tell me what the major difrences of driving it to a gli as iam not sure if it would be worth buying a new car. oh and is there much difrence between the ef and el xr6 Thanks for your help guys. |

The EF has better looking flutes, but more plain headlight surrounds.
Depends on how much you are prepared to spend. A EF can be had for 6k while the EL can reach up to 14k for a clean example. Mechanically an EL would generally be in better nick due to lower kays ( in most cases). Are you after more grunt or do you like the look of em? I'd be going an EL because they look that bit better.

As per above I'd go on looks, personal preference and price. I think thats the bottom line....
Driving wise I dont think where is a lot of difference, if any. New cars are easy to compare but how many older vehicles have all original factory parts etc???? Best to drive examples of each that you find interesting, each and every one, and dont assume one will drive like the next Good luck, great cars both

i agree with pepe... we all have our opinions and we will all stick by them regardles.. (personally its the EL's for me)
test drive test drive test drive my advice in my experience look for the holy trinity of a used car... the condition of the car, the look of the car, and the driveability of the car and if your happy with all three $$$$ cha-ching happy hunting and make sure pics pics pics when you get one Nicko_bud |

rereading your first post if your just wanting abit more power go the exhaust as with a decent exhaust and extractors you'll beat most stock xr's anyway with ur gli probably save ya money in the long run but if your looking at an upgrade don't discount the fairmont ghias as they've already got the xr6 engine anyway but with all the added benefits of luxury kind off.

Nah go the EF ;)
Apart from looks as people said theres no noticable mechinal differences. Just slightly different exterior and inside trim. If i was you one of the main reasons i would upgrade would be for the better looks, a manual transmission and LSD. I'd look for both EF and EL's and buy the best example you find be it an EF or EL... |

Whatever model you get make sure it has the full Tickford bodykit, they look like a standard GLi with an XR front conversion without it.
I like both models, very different fronts but both very sexy!

Ive owned both a EF XR6 and an EL XR6 (current) both much of a muchness, the EL's look meaner and nicer than the EF's thats my only swing from the EF for me, both great nimble cars the drive.
