The pros are that they are a good lock. The reality is though, if they want your car, or want to get into your car, they will just smash a window anyway.

yea ok, now i know with some cars you can use a wrong key and it will open the locks and start the car and that, does anyone know if you can do that with xb locks or are they half decent.

Most 30 year old cars that have had a lot of use (wear)you could probably start with a different key

Some sort of new lock is probably good.

I helped a guy break into his own camira the other day with my glovebox key. Plus i can start my hillman with just about anything that remotely resembles a key. So solex locks with at least keep the hackers and junkies away. Of corse if they want the car they will have it but it will stop the lowlife opportunist

A solex door lock is also a deadlock when you turn the key and remove it with the key horizontal.

So the lock pin inside the car will not function, its "dead locked". Stops people using wire, or the old packing tape to pop the lock open. Only really useful on a 2 door car, otherwise the back doors aren't protected by deadlock.

Downside is you cant use central / remote locking with the dead lock function activated.

But you can just use it as a normal lock and remove the key straight up and down and the door will lock, but with no dead lock active. I had central locking and didn't use the deadlock unless I thought it was a high risk area I was parked in.

I recommend them if you need a lock, otherwise remove the lock and weld up the door.

I put some on my VL Commodore, when I had it, because I could unlock the doors with my ClubLock key. :
