Default 5 speed conversion completed!

Yep, bout bloody time. :hihi: Bolted the transmission up today and did all those other fiddly bits. Huge thanks to Sundeep and Kenaz, with out ya's i'd still be stuck with a broken 3 speed. Everything pretty much went to plan, except for the dodgey clutch bolt thingy that I got with the conversion (thanks Jack) a trip to just Falcons fixed that $15 later.

We took it for a quick spin around the block and all was good, then up to pik a part.. :P What a transformation it has made to the car. Soo much more responsive and just soo much more fun to drive. The t5 deffinately needs an oil change and picked up a new tailshaft with good uni's, once i do that it should be sweet, need a new diff too, and some bushes and a heap of other shit ;). Also need to adjust the clutch cable a bit more. This is about the only pic I bothered to take.

In conclusion i'm pretty damn happy with it, although the gearbox whines a bit in second, it's pretty tight. Lined up a Gen 4 6.0 Monaro, then stalled it :king:. The car loves it. Oh and have no reverse lights, but i'm sure that's a simple fix.

Thanks again Sunny and Ash. _2:

yeah for sure. It helps when you have the right parts. lol :P

Sunny, with the reverse light wires, did you connect them to the top 2 clips or the bottom 2 ? Come on MSN. Also those bellhousing crossmember bolts, that I couldn't get to.. were they tightened. lol.

Silencer, i've got a GT gear boot and a BA GT gear knob lined up, just need to get some more moola in the bank.

John's - Thanks, deffinately worth it.

interior is just a bit dirty. Wanna race ? ;)

I still want that diff. Maybe we can organise something for the e-series meet if you're coming. Other wise the weekend after that, if he still has it. Cheers.

Top effort from Damo and Sunny! I didn't really do all that much :nutsycuck None of us had ever done a 5 speed conversion before, so to get it done in the time it took was bloody good work. Excluding the pedal box, the actual time working on the car was about one full day. I couldn't believe the car started first time and everything!

lol. Yep ;) And she doesn't go too bad either, although a new diff would be a good thing.

ah nice work...its such a transformation going from a 3 speed to a 5 speed; its a completely different animal!

I need a new diff to..lol...sometimes when I change gears the car "shuffles" (thats the only way I can describe it)..maybe its the bushes.

Anyway, have fun pulling burnouts when ever you want now, and not just when its wet..lol

Great to hear the T5's go great in the falcons it make such an improvment over the auto. Heaps more response and the T5's love to leave 2 nice black marks down the road. lol

cheers guys. I changed the oil and tailshaft today after work, that alone made a huge improvement. Used Transmax Z with some Nulon additive. Shifts good now. The oil that I dranied was more like sludge, and there was only about half a litre in it. :P

Discovered a few problems tonight on the mini meet. The car likes to make loud bangs, and doesn't like abuse, ie, letting the clutch out fast and hard changes, it just makes a loud bang, still goes hard though almost kept with Kenaz for a bit untill that big V8 took off :hihi:. It's also very easy to stall it, but i put this down to the 2.77 ratio :P

The loud 'bangs' are coming from the rear so, we think it's the diff, + a heap of worn bushes. My rear trailing arm bushes are almost non existent.

Should get it all sorted within a few weeks.

Yep damo, sounds like your diff is sick and your trailing arms are worn. My old 3.08 was like that, when you go WOT from the lights, and change gear the car goes BANG like you think the diff has flown out ;)

Santo, don't you be shitting on my sale slut...lol.

Just FYI, the BA GT knob does not fit straight on to the EA stick. Doug helped me put a new thread on to a shortened EA stick, then I put a EB GT gear boot around it.

Good to see the Nulon finally put to good use :P

trailing arm bushes that are ****ed will make heaps of noise especially on a manual car... diff moves back and forth more in a manual than in an auto...
