All you have to do is drive through the Port of Brisbane. New cars go for like 3k x 1-2K's, all just sitting there in the open.

You think that with so many cars, the prices would plummet... but greed stops that... they prefer to keep the prices to high and let them rot...

If prices were to plummet, what do you think would happen to the value of your car.

IF they plummet below cost then they wouldn't remain in business and why would they?....Cost defined to mean production cost + overhead + a decent return on investment

Perhaps this would help the emissions in some cases.

A lot of older cars are cherished by their owners, and are maintained to as equal, or a better standard than some new cars I've seen driving around.

I wnet for a chopper flight over Sydney on Monday and snapped a few shots of a heap of cars sitting on the wharfs.

I believe they are mostly Toyotas.

Maybe because you are better off selling last years stock at what it cost you or even slightly below cost so at least you have cashflow & keep the wheels turning as opposed to ever growing stocks of Vehicles.

No point hanging out for that turn around if it takes years to happen & by then your Bankrupt because you have no Cashflow.

If I had $5000.00 of Computers in stock & they were not selling, I would rather at least get that $5000.00 back (what they cost me in parts) than have them sit in the workshop for years & then become worth even less.

Of course I do not stockpile large amounts of stock so for me does not matter, however Car companies need to keep all the wheels turning & while they can afford to temp shutdown Production or reduce Production they cannot just shutdown for 6 months & then start up again.

So yes we should be seeing better Prices by now specially on New 07 or 08 stock to begin with, ie 08 FG XR6 Sedan $29990.00 Driveaway

Some of these images are just of cars arrived straight off the boat so to speak. When you consider that the average car carrying ship can hold 3,000 or more vehicles, its kind of changes the perspective a little. All the cars sitting on the docks may have only just been driven off the ship.

And what about the emissions to build all those new cars? Pretty sure it takes 15-20 years for a new car to start coming out in front in regards to CO2 pollution.

That's what I was told as a kid Martin, I had a teacher that was a bit of a greenie, one of these kind of guys that rode a push bike to work and had a old valiant for the weekends, he told me you could keep driving your old HQ for 100 years and we would be better off than buying a new car (this was in the late 80s)
