Default Heating/Ventilation issue

For a while now I've had a problem with my heating, where it'll warm up the car to whatever temperature I set the CC at, but the passenger footwell always blasts out cold (not air conditioned) air. Driving back from melbourne today, the ambient temp was 3* and I could really feel the cold coming in!

So E-Series fix0rs of fux0red things, whaddyareckon the problem(s) may be, and how could/should I fix it? Are E-Series heating/cooling vents vaccuum operated? Does anyone have available the vent layout/diagrams or any other things that may help me in fixing this? And if it's a bugger to fix (ie pulling out the whole dash), how much do you think it'll cost to fix?

Cheers,

-Dave-

PS for those who don't know, I have an EB Ghia with the digital climate control, however I doubt it has something to do with the climate control itself.

I think the flap on the passenger side where the fan is for recirc and fresh is busted as per usual and doing nothing.

It should be closed when on recirc start the car press recirc and check it.

Due to the difficulty of detecting while driving (I only noticed because it was cold this morning!), I'm assuming I could do this while stationary & sitting in the passenger seat, with the fan on? Or so I specifically need it off?

Should it be doing it even on Fresh, because I had the CC on pure auto mode today at 24* (and it selects Fresh)... It'll blow warm air through the driver's side footwell when on Fresh and 24*.

Thanks for the quick response mate, as usual! Will check it out in the car after the next response, or 15 mins, whatever comes first :P

Yeah start the car and go stick your head under the passenger side (glovebox area) and see if the flap changes position bewteen fresh and rerecirc.

I bet you can move the flap with your little finger meaning broken vaccuum arm (very common) but easy fixed.

LMAO well I just learnt two things:

1) The flap isn't behind the kick panel :P

2) It's not fun having 15 years of leaves & dirt & crap blow up your sleeve when the bigass flap is pushed open (serves me right for having the fan on high)!

OK so from this situation I'm assuming that the flap is broken as you say (I tested it on Fresh and Recirc, with AC on/off and heater on/off). Got a quick fix for it? 'tis much simpler so far than I was expecting! This has to be an E-Series first!

pull the glovebox side of the dashboard out, 3 10mm bolts hold the box part on with the flap, remove it, arildite/glue it back to working order then re-install it, about as simple as that.

really, really simple fix, put the flap to closed and put a screw through the plastic to stop it opening again (recirc 24/7 then).

ugh, that would suck...

Guess what... still haven't fixed "P" yet either :P Might ask dad if he's got a drill stashed in the cellar. Another weekend job perhaps? (I doubt it, give it another month or ten)

If you have climate, press the floor and off button at the same time to go into diag mode, see if any codes spit out.

But since it's an EB GLi, I'm guessing the toggle is in the red section. Moving it to the blue section should alleviate your cabin heat issues :

Seriously though, how do you mean "too hot"? Does it still blow out hot air when you've got it set on cold air/air con?

==============================================

Ahh I'd love to come mate but I do 11 hour shifts on Saturdays :( We'll meet up one day though! Thanks for the offer though!
