I've had problems with all the fleet cars I've owned.
The Avalon I had completely scrubbed out the edges of a rear set of tyres due to bad camber with in 7,000 k's. Door trim came loose. Wasn't much really, but the Toyota dealership refusing to replace the Tyres because they are consumables when there was obviously an issue really grinds my gears. Holden VY S Commodore. 2 Headlight relays and a coil pack and one headlight globe. Coil pack fixed by Holden roadside assist, took it in for headlight relays and they replaced the globe as a courtesy for me, no real fuss, thankfully wasn't late for anything. Ford BA XR6 gearbox, gearbox, gearbox, gearbox gearbox, gearbox. Shift quality was absolutely terrible, and after taking a corned and re-accelerating smoothly the bastard would thump so hard back to a previous gear. Ford dealership didn't wanna know about it. Saying thats the way the transmisions are when I know that is not true. Diff whining real bad, ford dealer said I drove it to hard. Multiple headlight and tail light globes that i refused to replace because they were a ***** to get too. As per toyota ford claimed it was a consumable and not covered by warranty. Which i would normally understand but not when its this many, I was over it. I fought it hard till i told them I would be asking for a VZ for my next car and will be speaking to the fleet manager about the issues. They replaced the bulbs for me and the diff under warranty. serviced/flashed the gearbox, or both, can't remember now... still sucked, got rid of it not long after. VZ SV6 Not much really, loved the car aside from its delay on the accelerator pedal. It also did a headlight relay and some sort of fuse or relay for the aircon. Once again fixed without issues. You can all say I'm a troll, but i once enjoyed driving falcons when it wasn't up to me to have them fixed or deal with sloppy service staff, can you see where the sour taste comes from now. The cars themselves have issues but are still a good car, as is the commodore, they just seriously don't have the dealer backing for their product like Holden do. And customer service wins every time with me. VW golf (current personal car) Erratic auto wiper function - update software - FIXED Supercharger clutch chattering - new clutch - FIXED Sat nav volume to loud and each time I turned it down it would reset next time she spoke - SAT NAV updated and maps updated to v3 saving me over $800 - FIXED! Window regulator vibrating in doors when stereo turned up - Replaced - FIXED NO problems anymore, and a few post delivery issues that were fixed and Am as happy as a pig in **** with this car now. Wouldn't buy anything else. Stoney!

I drove an LT-R last week, thought it was a really good thing to drive, felt good on the road and free of rattles and wind noises, something I am yet to experience from the last 3 ford's I’ve had, and the last 3 fords were passenger cars not commercials
I will be driving a Ranger in the next few days I really hope it drives as well

Mate round the corner bought 2 new colorado twin cabs. One as a fully loaded work ute as he's a subby in the gas fields and one as Mum's taxi. Both have been faultless and the work ute is loaded to the hilt. Done about 40,000ks already..........You will always get " A Lemon "................

My VY Berlina has over 230,000kms and it runs almost like new. Never broken down, starts first time, everytime.
Holden and Fords are both great cars...competition doesn't have to get nasty. |

I agree with the sentiment of every manufacturer has "lemons". Fords are just my personal preference & choice. And I couldnt give a damn whether they have more or less "lemons" than others.

But seriously new casr have problems that are sometimes hard to fix, especially when its a newer model and the techs haven't done any training on them. |

Bzzt. Greatwall is based on older Rodeo, R9 from memory. Current Colorado & D-Max are similar.

I believe the entire answer to your problems is in the telling words "ex-Company car with 100,000km on it".
Out here we have Toyota Prados only a year or two old with up to 70,000km on them, that from the interesting mechanical noises from underneath and the engine sounds, appear to have more like 370,000km on the clock... |

weve had 4 falcons ranging from eb to BF, and 3 commodores ranging from VN to VZ. i havent found either to be any more unreliable then the other, only the fords have had more serious/costly problems (auto gearbox and head gasket replacements).
but people like to find one example and dramaticise it to make one company look like the worst in the world. If this example in this thread was the norm, that holden wouldnt be the sales success it is. |
