So whats gonna happen when it stuffs up and limits you to 50 on the Freeway?

This better not come in, people better not believe this crap and let it happen, Australians should stand up for once.

The work cars have GPS on them and it emails the boss every time we go over 100. If we go over 110 Twice we get fired.
The highest speed limit we go on is 100, but it's pathetic when you want to overtake a truck doing 95 in a 100 zone at 2am.

The morons who think of this crap have probably only driven to their office in Sydney city in peak hour, when you can't get near the speed limit.

When the road toll stays the same, what will they do?
Speed is only 1 factor of road crashes, Why the hell don't they do something usefull.

Saw 2 head on's on the new this evening..... if you are doing 95 in a 100 zone, or 110 in a 100 zone, you will be killed in a head on either way.

Why don't they put barriers in the middle of the road instead???
Nah they can't fix pot holes, how could they find the time/money to put up barriers om country roads!

Gee BEN73 that control your work has really sucks!
So they think doing 110 in a hundred zone is worse than doing 100 in a 50 zone! What a joke. I'd be out of there ASAP.

yeah it's pretty pathetic. But teh company is pretty good in all other aspects. Great pay, good conditions.

Its a damn train company, the trains are only supposed to do 80, but if they go up to 90, it's recorded in the data logger, but no one checks them unless their is an incident. So you can do 10 over on the train and get away with it, but 10 over in the cars and they come down on you like you are terrible.

There is an intersection near the work that is no right turn.... mostly due to heavy traffic at the day time.
You turn right there at 2am when there is no cars around... company send you a letter saying they know you turned right.

Many people have got letters from the company basically saying, we caught you doing xxx on this road at this time, do it again and you are out of here.

Someone was thinking about coming into the car park with a strong magnet and stuffing up all the GPS on the windscreen.

I'm sure the RTA would love to do all this one day, but send you a fine in the mail as well.

If I buy a brand new car and it comes with this stupid **** on it, I'm ripping it out. I don't care if I lose the EFI and have to bolt a carby on. I am the driver. I tell the car what to do. Not the other way around.

GPS Jammer from ebay etc would fix this. They might ask you a few funny questions though.

Won't happen, the benefits of not having it (read speeding infringement revenue) exceed the benefit of implementation (saving only a few lives). Yes I'm cynical but you know I'm right.

"The driver is alerted by both visual and auditory feedback, and if they continue to exceed the speed limit, the system will automatically restrict engine power until the vehicle returns to the allowed speed. "

"Speaking with the ABC, British Professor of Transport Safety Oliver Carsten said that a similar trial in the UK showed promising results."

"We're talking up to a 30 percent reduction in injury accidents, and 50 percent reduction in fatal accidents," Prof Carsten said.

Were this to become law it would actually drive the road toll through the roof .

Wev'e all sat behind some moron who sits on a single lane counrtry road doing 20 kilometres below the limit and the equally moronic XXXXwits who sit behind him and not pass and not leave enough gap for the people behind to pass them individually . So you either have to end up passing 3 or 4 or more cars and or people just get plain frustrated and end up doing something stupid as in passing where it is not safe to do so . To pass a car doing 80KPH at 100 KPH will take you precious time , to pass them at 140KPh you'll be past them in a heartbeat , the less time spent on the wrong side of the road the better . Imagine if this became law and you pull out and these XXXXwits do what they usually do , ie speed up to prevent you passing them and the XXXXwit behind you closes the gap closing off any route of escape . Cant believe this is being not only considered but actually trialed .

Professor Carsten is a XXXXing MORON

If the data can be recorded, then when you get your registration each year you have to upload the info to figure out how many times you were speeding , and then they fine you accordingly.
NSW government would out of the red and into the black after twelve months.

Not sure, because as long as there’s a bunch of total f-witts running the NSW RTA, they’ll always find some BS reason to justify “ongoing” research. Just like cutting the speed limit on the Newell back to 100. This was supposes to save X number of lives, but when there’s no change in the road toll, or if it increases, they’ll all be back slapping each other because they prevented it from being higher, or so they’ll say. So it doesn’t matter what happens with the road toll, up, down or the same, they’ll clam it as a win.

If you listen to the government spin doctors, they’d say that no one has ever been killed on the roads obeying the speed limit, bah.

As long as state governments find an easy source of revenue in enforcing speed limits, we will never be able to get rid of garbage like this. Let’s face it, NSW and QLD are broke, so it will only get worse. Remember, speed kills, or so they say and they want to protect us from ourselves so they’re actually doing us a favour, not.

Look at the deaths from cancer, 12,000 each year then compare that to the road toll. I wish they put as much effort into preventing cancer.

Well if they are not doing "important studies" resulting in "groundbreaking conclusions" then they might have to go out and get a job in the real world......

Standard methodology to force an agenda:

1) Hire idiot academics to find evidence to back your agenda.
2) Hire more idiot academics to contradict them but make absolute fools of themselves publicly then back down and apologise.
3) Implement agenda using the above studies to immediately debunk anyone who questions it with "We have already studied that".

The difference between public service & academia AND the real world:

If you completely stuff up in the real world you get sacked and possibly face civil or criminal prosecution whereas public servants get transferred to a different department usually with a promotion and (provided their stuffup is in line with agenda) academics get further grants to stuff other things up.
