not worried about length of time, unless it's super long haha. Just need to get there via car, taking my ute and need to carry something there. Otherwise I would be flying.

Most of which are flood affected.. again seriously, most of the state from Rocky to the South East is either underwater or about to be....

Lets all ignore the weeks of footage on the news, the calls from Police to people not to travel anywhere.. the fact that a lot of roads are damaged, the fact that some towns have no food, power, electricity.... yes lets all encourage people to "have a go"... "she'll be right"... its the aussie way....

In case you missed it, Brisbane is on flood alert now, Toowoomba has had 4 deaths today due to flash flooding, dalby is underwater for the 4th time in 3 weeks, gympie is cut off, areas around stanthorpe flooding....

Gee news reports freak people out, settle down, it's not the end of the world.

You'll get as far as Maryborough no worries, not sure about past that though, you'll probably have to wait for the water levels to drop a bit then you might be able to find a way around. I just came back to Moranbah from Childers last night. Had to go to Gin Gin, cut across the Mt Perry Rd, through Monto, Bilo, Moura to Bauhinia then through Woorabinda to Dingo then up the beef road.

Keep an eye on http://highload.131940.qld.gov.au/ seems to be the best site around for up to date road closures.

Oh so the 8 dead, 70 odd people missing in toowoomba nothing to freak out about? The 20 or so people who have died in the past 4 weeks in flood water...
The fact that Brisbane and the South East is now on evacuation notices... yes all is well... all the homes lost and towns destroyed... its all good.

That awkward moment when Hervey Bay is the only town in south east queensland that has no signs of flooding.

Mate unless you really really have to i'd put it off for a week or 2.

Failing that maybe if you drive west into the NT (suitable vehicle for it) than down into SA and east into NSW you will come to the Pacific HWY which will probably be closed, camp there for a while and get into Brissy maybe just to see your ute get washed away... okay maybe its not gonna happen like that but you should not underestimate the power of water.

Brisbane is on flood alert now and they are seeing downpours that have never been recorded before although this is a proven 35 year cycle caused by the Indian ocean dipole effect with la nina

We have no idea how bad it will get before it gets better but the wet season is just beginning and we still have the cyclones to hit the north... look out darwin you are overdue for a big storm.

your having a bad week goose , yes its bad for the people that have lost there lives but the road is as safe as it can be ,rain hail or shine .. education is the key and the site dave suggested is what we having been living on for two months ,those people were caught out by flash floods the same as we have up here but most of those could of easily been avoided . get a qld map and check the roads that are open or not by the end of the week most would have subsided anyway . good luck and take some food in your car incase you do get stuck at a high creek somewhere ..

Sorry guys, didn't realise things where quite so bad down in the corner, been travelling and hadn't seen the pics.

Still, if you need to get from point A to point B there is plenty of info out there on road conditions, you just need to know where to find it then make up your own mind if it's worth the trip. With the way the weather has been you'll be risking getting held up by flood water no matter where you are heading so sure, only travel if you need to, but to suggest that people shouldn't travel anywhere because of road damage or other adverse conditions isn't right either. We all have things we need to get done, arm yourself with all the info you can, throw some drink and tucker in the car and take it steady.
