I'd rather a blown 5L than a canopy!
Turns out not to even be a canopy, just found the article, they are going to apply Sandman badges to wagons and utes....... http://www.carsguide.com.au/car-news...3#.VN2s_C7SnPs |

XR8 is going out in style in my eyes. I think there will be a new Hyundai for the OP soon...

The new age ones maybe a ute with a canopy but unless it is close to this then don't bother.

So is that what this was all about?
A ute crossed with a sports wagon does not equal a panel van, though at least they're making some attempt with the local stuff while its still here, unlike that other brand.

The way I see it both the XR8 and Sandman are going out with style.
You can get conversions for the VE/F ute that cover over the roof - removing the rear glass will result in at least some of that internal length that the old panel vans had - surf beasts! One of these would be a good promotional vehicle for any business, nothing else on the roads looks like it. Now, if they omit the rear doors and make a proper panel van out of the wagon.... hmmm! Good on Holden for keeping wagons going.

I can understand the ute being called a Sandman, but not a wagon.
Not all Sandmans were panel vans.

If someone can convince people to actually fornicate in the back of that, then they deserve recognition.

Thats a pathetic attempt at recreating a Sandman. If people are going to forget the XR8 and congratulate Holden for that then Ford never had any hope.

Gay, just like a FWD Crumbledore. At least Ford are retiring Falcon with some dignity rather than having it turning tricks on the corner.

I think I saw one last weekend. It was a VF and had the high rear canopy of a panel van.

That's all fine, if you can get your hands on a blown V8. The one hero car in the range and most pundits can't get their hands on one. I'm no Holden fan but at least they are showing a modicum of respect to their hardcore fans.

BUT what ford should have done is NOT drop the wagon. That just left a big hole for holden to fill. When it came time for a new work car for me what choice did I really have?

VF Sandman ute would be easy to do.
And the Van well that would be good as well, but you can only go in and out of the rear door. Bring it on ! VF Sandman. |

I thought Holden already made a sandman, which is now commonly known as a divisional van. Are those for sale to the general public now as the Sandman?

So what was the FPV GS then (apart from a rebadged XR8) ?

Well they have a RWD Australian wagon, LPG wagon, high series wagon, sporty wagons of 6 and V8, and these can run on E85 ethanol if you're feeling green. Then you get the interior upgrades which are quite nice and a truckload of tech, and then they were 5-10K cheaper than before. You can even order a country pack with increased clearance on their base wagon. All of this, just not at Ford.
