Default well ive done the change

well its finally done ive changed my au2 from auto to manual it was a 2 day game but it has nearly all gone well. i changed the lot even the wiring loom to the manual one. have had two problems, the car wouldnt start at all with the manual ecu the smart shield icon was flashing on the dash when i tried to start it so had to put the auto one back in, it works but is using a bit of fuel. and the other thing is now the thermo fans are running all the time now non stop, could any one help me with these 2 problems. and if any one has any questions on doing the conversion i would be happy to answer any.

Sounds like it is running in diagnostic mode, hence the fuel usage and the fans on... the ECU isnt doing its job, its just running dumb.

ie, focus on the smartsheild side of things. I assume the problem here is the key needs to match the ECU.

You need to get Ford to program the new ECU to match your car/bem.

as per our PM any workshop that can code keys will fix it up for you. Plug in the manual ECU, then as LG said get the key to match

And yes Ford can do it.. $105 an hour is OK considering it will take them about 3 minutes :P (sarcasm)
