Which BEM can I use for AUII ute?

Hi guys, got rid of the EF wagon and got myself an 6cyl AUII manual ute. After some issues and having the scan tool on it the auto sparky says I need a new BEM. Problem is he says it has to be vehicle specific as in it has to come out of another manual AUII ute. I thought as long as it's from the same vehicle model and it's the same colour BEM it would be alright and wouldn't matter if it was out of a sedan, ute or wagon what do you guys reckon? I tried searching but couldn't find the answer, anyone know for sure?
