Default BA XR8 Air box dilema..

howdy all,
In the middle of fitting a BA XR8 pod style air box.(to fill the gap) Do i-
(a)- have a flanged plate to bolt upto old fixings, use small peice of hose and clamp off at each end or..
(b)- grind down sides of Mass Air Flow Sensor body and slip a 90mm silicon sleeve over it??

Opinions please. (also keep in mind i will not be going back to the original setup so returning to stock is not an option)
